PREFACE
ES/096 Rev 1 was written as a supplement to the EEMUA Publication No.150 which had been prepared as an industry standard under the auspices of EEMUA. Following the issue and widespread adoption of the EEMUA publication, BSI developed BS 7191 based on EEMUA 150 which retained all the technical essentials of that publication. At the time of preparation of ES/096 Rev 1 there was no SIPM DEP applicable to weldable structural steels but, following the publication of BS 7191, the SIPM DEP 37.19.10.30-Gen., based on this British Standard, was developed and issued in 1993. This revision of this ERD supplements or amends the requirements of SIPM DEP 37.19.10.30-Gen. (referenced above). It is to be used as a procurement document for weldable structural steel plate and sections up to and including 450 N/mm yield strength. This ERD shall be used as it stands and shall not be modified in any way. Where it is necessary to supplement or modify this ERD, this shall be done by suitable addenda or a project specification contained within the Purchase Enquiry or Order. DEP 37.19.10.30-Gen. is an amending document to BS 7191:1989 (including amendments AMD 6750 and AMD 6885) and is written following the same format. This ERD is also structured in the same format as the DEP. For further information see references above.

ES/096 Rev 2 1995 PART II INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Addition: In this Standard amendments to the DEP fall into the following categories: Modification' Addition' Additional Clause' Deletion' Substitute' where part of the DEP clause has been modified. Only the modified portion will be detailed in this Standard; where extra requirements have been added to the DEP clause or paragraph. where new numbered clauses or paragraphs are added. They are numbered in sequence to the existing DEP clause or paragraph numbers; where the complete DEP or BS 7191 clause or paragraph is to be disregarded. where the text has been substituted for the complete DEP clause or paragraph.

In this Standard the paragraph numbers are those of the DEP clauses or paragraphs, to which they refer. In Part III the clause numbers also match the clause numbers in BS 7191. Where no reference has been made in this Standard to DEP clauses or paragraphs, the existing DEP text shall apply. The existing text of BS 7191 applies for all clauses not modified by either the DEP or this Standard.

ES/096 Rev 2 1995 CLAUSE 5 - STEELMAKING AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS 5.3 Limits and Segregation Control for Concast Modified Grades

5.3.1 Modification (to substitute clause): Material manufactured by the concast route shall only be permitted for thicknesses above 40mm, but not exceeding 70mm, if each parent product meets the following Charpy impact testing acceptance criteria when tested in accordance with Clauses 24 and 25 of BS 7191.

Material Grade 355 450

Minimum Average of 3 Specimens (J) 80 100

Minimum Individual (J) 56 70

CLAUSE 7 - CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES 7.2 Product Analysis

Addition: The requirements of Clause 8 of BS 7191 may be waived for Manufacturers who have previously supplied the Principal with products complying with the chemistries specified in Appendix 3 of this Standard provided it can be demonstrated that authenticated weldability data complying with EEMUA 150 has been previously accepted by the Principal. Manufacturers offering product aim chemistries differing from those previously accepted by the Principal shall submit for approval their target chemistries (Option B8 in BS 7191) together with fully documented weldability data in accordance with Appendix F of BS 7191. 7.4 Mechanical Properties

Modification (Table 9): 275D and 355D grade plates shall not be used above 20mm thick. CLAUSE 8 - WELDABILITY DATA FOR MODIFIED GRADES Modification (to Note): Weldability data is required for plates which are greater then 40mm in thickness and rolled sections and tubulars exceeding 25mm in thickness. SECTION THREE. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT FOR TESTING CLAUSE 28 - WIDE PLATE AND CRACK OPENING DISPLACEMENT (COD) DATA FOR MODIFIED GRADE PARENT PLATE Additional clause: Provided that the Manufacturer can supply sufficient information acceptable to the Principal, wide plate or COD data shall not be required. Otherwise, testing in accordance with option B25 of BS 7191 shall be performed.
