1 Overview
1.1 SDR Architecture
"eparating baseband from $ helps to make full use of both the baseband and the $ part The baseband can achie%e the ma&imum integration, while the $ part focuses on reali'ing ma&imum power and efficienc!, and thus pro%iding more fle&ible networking modes( )fter the separation, the baseband part is called the base band unit *BBU+, while the $ part is called the radio unit * U+( BBU and U can be installed into the same cabinet to form a macro base station, such as B",,-- and B",.--( The! can also be installed in the remote mode to form a remote radio unit * U+(

BBU is responsible for processing and controlling digital baseband signals, while U is responsible for con%erting digital baseband signals into analog signals between BBU and antenna( BBU is connected with fiber( One BBU enables multiple different fre/uenc! bands0 Us of different s!stems in the same fre/uenc! band or U can support both G"M and UMT" s!stems U %ia the BBU- U interface using the optical

simultaneousl! in such common fre/uenc! bands as ,1-M, .--M, 2,--M, and 2.--M( 3t is based on two points mentioned abo%e that "# can support the dual-mode multifre/uenc! configuration(

1.2 IP Abis/Iub Interface

#ifferent from traditional base stations, "# base stations adopt the all-34 architecture( Their )bis53ub interfaces use the 34 protocol and ph!sical bearing medium is $65G6 or 625T2 *34 o%er 625T2+ instead of traditional T#M o%er 625T2( 34 o%er 625T2 can take ad%antage of the e&isting transmission e/uipment to sa%e in%estment( $65G6 can obtain more bandwidth, which complies with the e%olution trend of the 34-based telecommunications s!stem(
