Flier
Description Black and white flier detailing a graduate conference for business majors. Date 1/25, redone 4/4 4/2 Course COMM130Visual Media Instructor Brother Judkins Programs Adobe InDesign Objectives To learn about InDesign and reach an audience of business majors. Process cess: This is the project I redid for the portfolio. I cropped out the second person that had been in the image, added a black rectangle around the title, and took out the Who What Where When and Why questions in order to make the flier more streamlined. I also added the Vouant logo at the bottomand a black line at the edge of the page in order to make the cropping of his shoe less obvious.

Photodesign
Description This is a flyer explaining a positive aspect of winter to others. Date 2/8/2014 Course COMM130Visual Media Instructor Brother Judkins Programs Photoshop, Adobe Bridge. Objectives Learn about Photoshop editing techniques. Learn the basics of using a DSLR camera. Process I used my DSLR camera to take several photos of branches with snow on them. I opened the photos in Bridge, and opened the one I liked best in Photosho. I used adjustment layers and a sharpen filter on the photo to achieve the effect I wanted. After that, I added the quotes and color swatches, and used shapes to keep the colors in one place. After the peer review, I added in the color scheme and the names of the colors.

Brochure
Description Black and white flier detailing a graduate conference for business majors. Date 3/29/2014 Course COMM130Visual Media Instructor Brother Judkins Programs Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator Objectives The objective of this project was to learn how to create and print a duplex brochure using the Adobe Suite. Process I chose a business to design a brochure for, and then I picked photos that matched what that business was selling. I used Illustrator to make a simply logo, and I used Photoshop to edit the photos as necessary. After the first group critique, I changed the indendation and font size, but left the color as white. I printed the brochure on the Spori Color Printer and used an exacto knife to trim the edges.

In 1953, Michelle Jackson began selling flowers from her garage. Today, she and her children, Lauren and Noah Jackson, manage a two-story shop at the corner of Main Street. Jacksons Flowers designs floral arrangments for the following events: -Prom: Corsages, boutonnieres, leis are made to order. Please give two weeks notice. -Holidays: Specialized seasonal Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines, and Easter baskets are made when ordered with a maximum 3-hour wait period. -Birthdays and Graduation: Please see customizable orders. -Weddings: Centerpieces, garlands, and bouquets are all made to order. Please give four weeks notice. -Funerals: Bouquets, vases, and centerpieces are all made to order. Please give one weeks notice.

Event Ad
Description An advertisement created Microsoft Word promoting a cook-off and bake sale for a family. Date 2/1/2014 Course COMM130Visual Media Instructor Brother Judkins Programs Microsoft Office Word Objectives The purpose of this project was to learn to scan images and design an advertisement in Microsoft Word. Process I used the image of bread from the design text book as inspiration for a basic color scheme. I used Office to lay out the image and shapes, and chose the fonts based on which would be appropriate for the event. I used a MS Office adjustment to edit the photo a little, in order to increase the saturation.

Business Card

Its supposed to look like a rose and the lens of a camera at the same time. Then I opened it in Adobe InDesign. I got a lot of feedback at the critique, so I changed the background color of the business card from pink to green.

Logos
Description Three logos designed for a cloud storage service, designed to appeal to people who know how to use computers and who would have a use for cloud services. Date 2/22/2014 Course COMM130Visual Media Instructor Brother Judkins Programs Adobe Illustrator Objectives The purpose of this project was to learn the basics of Illustrator including the pen tool, type, and outlines. Process I played around with the pen and shape tools for a while until I made the cloud and raindrop tools. The first logo is the only one left from the critique, because the other two were similar, and my group really liked the simplicity of the top logo. I designed the other two logos using Illustrator on Friday, using the type tool, shape tool, pen tool, and eyedropper tool.

Webpage
Description This is a basic webpage I made as an exercise in practicing the basics of HTML and CSS. Date 3/15/2014 Course COMM130Visual Media Instructor Brother Judkins Programs Text Wrangler Objectives The purpose of this project was to learn the basics of HTML and CSS in order to make a basic webpage. Process I learned the basics of HTML and CSS, including shortcuts. I used the w3school website to get more CSS codes, such as how to change the color of my links. I also went to my instuctor for help with the links. After the group critique, I changed the look of my webpage (previously, the h1 title had been white and green, and the background had been black) and added a photo to showcase the photography business I was displaying.
