1. Piint off the fiet guiue locateu on the last page of these plans. Tape the fiet guiue to a 1u inch
piece of the 14 inch by 1.S inch piece of woou. Nake suie that the line on the left is about inch
fiom the euge of the woou.

2. 0sing a mitei box anu the thin blaueu saw, cut shallow slots along the lines. The slots only neeu to
be as ueep as the tang of the fiet wiie.

S. Remove the tape anu papei fiom the fietboaiu. Caiefully tap the fiet wiie into the slots. 0se a file
to make the euges of the fiets comfoitable foi hanus sliuing up anu uown the neck.


4. 0se 2.7S inches of the S4 inch by 1.S inch woou foi the tail block. Biaw a uiagonal line fiom
coinei to coinei. Biaw veitical lines on the woou wheie the stiings will go. (The stiing spacing is
27 mm fiom the fiist to the last stiing. 0se the fiet guiue if neeueu to uiaw these lines.) Naik
wheie the zithei pins will go to the left of the stiing lines. Biill the holes so that the iight siue of
the zithei pins will be iight on the stiing line. Piactice uiilling the zithei pin holes in sciap woou.
The pins neeu to tuin, but they also neeu to be tight.

S. Biill a hole foi the combination jackstiap peg.

6. 0se 2 inches of the S4 inch by 1.S inch woou foi the neck block. Cut a notch into this piece that is
S8 inch ueep anu 1.S inches wiue.

7. 0se 9.S inches of the S4 inch by 1.S inch woou foi the neck. 0se 1 inch of the S4 inch by 1.S inch
woou anu 12 inch of the 14 inch by 1.S inch woou foi the neck heel. ulue these pieces so that
they aie S4 inch foi the enu of the neck. Cut a notch at the enu of the neck that is 18 inch ueep
anu S4 inch long.


8. Cut the heel into the uesiieu shape.

9. 0se two pieces of the 18 inch by 1.S inch woou that aie 9 inches long foi the siues. ulues these
pieces to the neck anu tail blocks. Nake suie that the notch in the neck block is up, anu the hole
foi the jackstiap peg is uown.

1u. ulue keifing to the top anu bottom of the siues.

11. 0se a foistnei bit to cut a sounu hole in a 18 inch by S inch by 9 inch piece of woou. Nake suie
that the hole is centeieu anu about 2.7S inches fiom the euge of the woou.


12. Nake suie the neck fits piopeily in the neck block notch. The top of the neck shoulu be flush with
the top piece once eveiything is glueu.

1S. Shape the neck with a file, ioutei, iasp anuoi a spokeshave. Nake the neck so that it is
comfoitable in youi hanus.

14. Biill small holes foi the stiings about 14 inch fiom the euge of the neck. 0se the fiet guiue to
place the holes evenly apait.

1S. Counteisink some holes on the bottom of the neck foi the stiing knots. Biill a hole at the enu of
the neck foi the stiap peg. Nake suie it is in between the two miuule stiing holes.

16. ulue on the top piece of woou.

17. 0se a tiim ioutei oi similai tool the cut off the extia woou fiom the top.

18. Soluei the piezoelectiic element to the combination jackstiap peg. Install the jack. Test it with an
amplifiei to make suie it woiks. It is N0CB haiuei to tioubleshoot any issues aftei the back is
glueu on.

19. If uesiieu, make anu sign an instiument label foi the back piece of woou.

2u. ulue the back on. Tiim off the extia woou with a tiim ioutei.

21. To keep the insiue clean when the applying the finish, attach some tape unuei the sounu hole.

22. ulue on the neck.

2S. ulue on the fietboaiu. Nake suie that the euge of the fietboaiu is iight by the stiing holes in the
neck.


24. Sanu, sanu, sanu. uet the bouy ieauy to finish.

2S. Apply finish to the bouy anu neck. Tiu-0il anu gunstock wax woik well.


26. 0se the 14 inch by 12 inch by 2.S inch piece of woou to make a biiuge. Stait with a faiily high
biiuge anu slowly lowei it by sanuing the woou. The uistance of the stiings to the fiets (the
action) will be ueteimineu by the biiuge. Nove the biiuge until it is 1S inches away fiom the zeio
fiet. Nove the biiuge closei oi faithei fiom the fietboaiu if the intonation isn't coiiect.

27. Install the stiap peg, the zithei pins, anu the stiings. Tie knots into the stiings anu feeu them
thiough holes at the top.
