Brochure
Description: Date:
March 29, 2014 Comm 130-O5 Brother Kerr I made a double sided brochure that has one fold in it.

Course/ Instructor: Programs: Tools:

Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign

Objectives: Process:

To create a double-sided folded brochure that talks gives details and facts about Daisies. Use all three Adobe programs. I opened a two page document in InDesign and added ruler lines to it. From there I added, text boxes and the background color to the front and the back. Then I added the images and logo. I created my logo in Illustrator. I used to star shape tool and then added more points to it. Then I used to convert anchor tool to round my points, so that my star looked like a flower. The last program I used was Photoshop. I had four images that I used in Photoshop. For two of my photos I used the quick selection tool. Then I made the background transparent. When I brought them over to my InDesign Document, I used text wrap and chose alpha channel that way the text wrapped around my cropped image and not the box surrounding the image.

The second picture I used was a picture of my bouquet and wedding rings to give the background image some texture and more color. I used the blending tool to have the temple show through. I used the multiply filter on the flower picture.I cropped my husband and I out of the third picture using the lasso tool. Then I added it on top of the other two pictures. I created another masking layer to blend the picture of us with the background.I choose two contrasting fonts. I used the color in my husbands tie for the color of the words.

I used the eyedropper in Photoshop to use the same color in my webpage that was used in my logo. I changed the fonts that were in the demo.css to the fonts that I liked, that also matched my logo. I added some padding and increased some margins so that everything wouldnt be too close together.

Photo Design
Description: Date:
I took a photograph with my canon camera and edited it in Photoshop. February 8, 2014 Comm 130-05 Brother Kerr

Course/ Instructor: Programs/ Tools:

Canon Rebel XS Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Learn basis photography skills. Learn to keep color scheme in mind when I take pictures. Upload photos into Photoshop. Crop and resize the image. Edit the photo in Photoshop. Create a flier with my edited photos.

Process:

I decided I wanted to use the triadic colors blue, red and yellow. I saw the red brick building, blue sky and yellow birdhouse outside my window. I got really lucky when I saw a squirrel in the tree, it helps add more yellow to my picture. After I took my picture I edited it in Photoshop, enhancing the color, vibrance, levels and sharpness. Keeping my color scheme in mind I created a flier in Photoshop. I used the eye dropper to get the colors used in the flier, from the picture itself.

Course/ Instructor: Programs/ Tools: Objectives:

Learn to use InDesign Learn how to add images to InDesign Create a project folder that had all the links in it Follow the rules of Typography

Process:

First I made a few sketches so I could get some ideas. Then I used the InDesign program to make my flier more professional. I wanted the paper to have good flow, so I tried to make it so each item would lead to another. I also wanted to leave white space so the flier would not look cluttered. I wanted a title that was sans serif so I could use a font that had serif.

I used the shape tool in the first to make all the stars. In the second logo I used to star shaper again, but then I used to pen tool to make the pointed edges round. For the third logo I used the flare tool, I think, to create the design. I changed the stroke of it so it would have the cool design.

March 1, 2014 Create stationary letterhead using only Illustrator and its tools

Course/ Instructor:
Comm 130-05 Brother Kerr Illustrator

Programs/ Tools: Objectives: Process:

Create stationary for my company Use the tools in Illustrator I used to paint brush tool to create the zebra stripes on in the corner. I added more pink squares to match the pink square on the business card. I also added the lines, to have that uniform with the cards. But I didnt add a line to the bottom, that way the white space could have a place to come off the page. Again I used to the type tool to add writing in the corner.
