Language Arts The children will continue with their Daily 3 assignments asking questions and locating important details in short stories and passages. Groups will also continue with synthesizing, learning more about characters and summarizing.
Writing
Students have begun retelling their Greek myths to other classes this will continue this week. Last week we practiced outside for volume and expression. Our big focus this week will be to complete our Monster Exchange descriptive paragraphs using figurative language and details, details, and more details before having them typed at home. All illustrations are due on Monday so we can continue with our partner class in Ogden, UT!
Math Unit 10 symmetry, reflection, and more multiplication of fractions. This past week the children used reflection mirrors to make mirror images of pictures. We will continue with symmetry, multiplying fractions and open responses. FAMILY LETTERS can be found on-line this year! As in past years, they contain unit vocabulary, activities, and selected homework answers. Social Studies Last week we learned more about farming and manufacturing in the Midwest Region. We even made our own specialty one-of-a-kind cars and Model Ts on an assembly line! Some shifts were more successful then others making quality, job One! This week, we will continue to practice states/capitals/Postal Codes and begin regional projects.
Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto This week we will begin the electricity portion of the unit. The students will learn about basic electrical circuits and will make a flashlight bulb shine with just 1 battery and 1 wire. We'll also discuss the direction that energy flows in a circuit.
