Wine, art and a friendly welcome ”

Visiting from Canada to attend a local wedding. Juliana is an encouraging art teacher, and
Paul farms the estate - wine and plums. This delightful couple are wonderfully friendly and
caring and provide their guests with a relaxing atmosphere. Comfortable beds. The breakfasts
are plentiful with different fresh fruit every day - including Paul's own plums in season.
Lounged by the pool under clear blue skies.

“ The Good Life ”

New Zealand
The Chateau is in a lovely setting amongst the vineyards and prune trees. Paul and Juliana were
lovely hosts and made feel very welcomed and relaxed. They were a mine of information of the
area. Chateau is strategically located to visit Bordeaux, St Emillion,, Agen and Bergerac. Breakfasts
were fresh and excellent. We certainly enjoyed our stay there and with a bit of persuasion Paul will
rope you in to help in the estate!
Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area.

“ Second visit as good as the first! ”

Sancerre, France
Chateau Lavanau has lovely views and is surrounded by grape vines and plum orchards. As you
drive up to the property this beautiful old house greets you itself, along with the welcoming smiles
of either Paul or Juliana, the owners, who are impressively bilingual, french and English. The wine
grown by Paul, Cotes de Duras, which I had not heard of before, so we took time to get to know it!
Very good and well priced, and as you can imagine on tap to taste and to buy, which we did! Our
room, the same both times, was very clean, bed comfortable, had a dual aspect view over the
vineyards. The shower room was well equiped and modern. Juliana gave me painting lessons,
which was one of the reasons we chose the holiday initially, along withe the wine, and as I couldn't
paint AT ALL before, I was pleased with the results. Our first trip was last summer and where we
made full use of the swimming pool along with the other guests. Restaurants are not too far away,
but we cooked in a little kitchen provided for the guests near the breakfast room. We made no
hesitation on returning a second time, out of season and was not disappointed. Good value for
money.

Le lieu, les chambres, la piscine sont magnifiques
Mais par dessus tout, c'est l'accueil, la gentillesse et la générosité de Giuliana qui nous ont
émerveillés.
 Après avoir vu des dizaines et des dizaines de chambres d'hôtes, voilà enfin
quelqu'un qui nous a reçu avec amour et nous a fait sentir vraiment chez nous.
C'est un exemple à suivre ....
