Closure: Close with the talk about it questions on TE p. 46: What is recycling? What natural resources bring many people to Miami, Florida? What did the state of California build the Oroville Dam?

J. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I think the easiest part of the lesson to teach will be having students relate to using natural resources in their communities. I think that by discussion questions in the chapter students will be able to relate easily with natural resources in their community. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think the hardest part to teach students will be the difference between renewable and nonrenewable resources. My reason for this is because I think it may be hard for them to think about why some resources are not renewable even if they are natural resources like the renewable resources. I think it might be a hard concept to get students to understand. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? I will use the extend lesson on TE. P 48-49 to review and add on to natural resources. 4. What can you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For students who are not grasping the concept I can do the Reteach mini lesson on TE. Bottom of p. 47. To help them understand the three types of natural resources by using the chart. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change?

I like my lesson plan the way it is right now. I dont think I would make any changes. Possibly add a couple more vocabulary words, but I think it is great the way it is. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part of this lesson was integrating a language arts strategy into my lesson from our course book. It was hard finding a strategy that was similar to what my lesson was about. Then having to figure out where to use that strategy in my lesson. 7. Explain the strategy from Integrating Language Arts & Social Studies that you included in this lesson plan. The strategy I included in my lesson plan from the course book Integrating Language Arts and Social Studies was strategy 12 on p. 85 Native American Resource Exploration. The strategy is to go over natural resources Native Americans might have used. Recording on their data sheet a natural resource and three ways the resource was used. Then illustrating the use and writing about what helped them draw these conclusions.
