CreatetheWorkbenchProject: StartWorkbenchR14orcreateanew project. IfyouhaveaccesstoDesignModeler, followtheinstructionsbelow, otherwiseskiptothenextslide. OpentheprojectAMWS4 Startup.wbpjlocatedintheMeshing WorkshopsInputFilesfolder.
Thisprojectcontainsacompleted geometry.

DragaMeshComponentSystemand

ThiswillattachtheMeshComponent SystemtotheGeometrySystem.

StartANSYSMeshingbydouble
clickingontheMeshCell(B3)ofthe MeshSystem.

CreatetheWorkbenchProject: Ifyoudonot haveaccessto DesignModeler,followthese instructions. FromtheWorkbenchFileMenu, selectImportandbrowsetothefile valve.meshdatlocatedinthe MeshingWorkshopsInputFilesfolder andopenit.

ReviewtheGeometry: Thegeometryrepresentsavalvewithoneinletdistributedthroughacentralspherical regiontothreeoutlets.
Ameshwillbegeneratedonthefluidregiononlyinthisworkshop.

IntheOutlineexpandGeometry,rightclickonPart2andselectSuppressBodyfromthe
ContextMenuasshown.
ThiswillsuppressallbodiescontainedwithinPart2whichrepresentsthesolidouterregionin thiscase.The(transparent)fluidregionwillbedisplayed.

Preparation
Planning IntheOutline,rightclickonMeshandselectShow Sweepable Bodies.
Threeofthefivebodiescouldbemeshedusingthe SweepMethod. Thecentralregioniscomplexandthereforewillbe meshedusingthePatchConformingTetrahedral Method. Theremainingbodycannotbesweptusingthe standardsweepmethodsinceitcontainsmultiple sourcefacesasshown.MultiZone willhoweverbeable tosweepthis.

In the Graphics Window , right click View > Left or click the X Axis on the Triad to view.

SetupAdvancedSizeFunction: Toadequatelycapturethecurvedgeometric featuresaCurvatureSizeFunctionwillbe used.

SetupMultiZone fortheNonSweepable Body: FurtherdecompositioninDesignModeler wouldenablethisbodytobemeshedusing thesweepmethod.However,theMultizone methodcanbeusedasanalternative.

ClickMeshintheOutline. Switchtheviewtoisometric,settheSelection
FiltertoBodyandselectthenonsweepable bodyasshown. Rightclick>Insert>Method. UnderDetailsofAutomaticMethodchange MethodtoMultizone.
TheDetailsviewwillnowbenamedDetailsof Multizone.

Leaveallothersettingstodefaultasshown.

StartSelectiveMeshing: Whencombiningmultiplemeshmethodsthe orderinwhichthebodiesaremeshedmay influencethefinalmeshcharacteristics. Generatingmeshesonebyoneiscalled SelectiveMeshing. Itisthereforerequiredthatwecanrecord thebodymeshingordersuchthatitcanbe repeatedautomatically. RightclickonMeshintheOutlineandselect StartRecordingfromtheContextMenu.
