Close your eyes and picture a mental image in your head of your favorite dog. His name is Oogy and he was the most playful and joyous boy. Now we take a deeper look into what happens when Oogy is placed in an abusive relationship with his owner: When our dog Oogy was about ten weeks old and weighed 20 pounds he was tied to a stake and used as bait for a Pit Bull. The left side of his face, including most of his ear, was torn off. He was bitten so hard a piece of his lower jaw was crushed. Afterward, he was thrown into a cage and left to bleed to death. He was later found by the police when they raided the facility and taken to an emergency service operating out of Ardmore Animal Hospital, in a suburb of Philadelphia. There, Diane Klein, the Offices Director of Operations, simply refused to allow the dog to die. Dr. James Bianco, the head of the hospital, operated for several hours to staunch the bleeding, replace the lost blood, and suture the gaping meat that Oogys face had become. With the help of everyone on the staff somehow, beyond any calculation of the odds, Oogy survived. (Levin) How could someone do such inhumane thing to an innocent animal? Why would they torture and abandon a creature who cannot survive without the owner? People in todays society do not realize the severity of the mistreatment of animals. All over the world animal cruelty is present and many of these poor creatures have been harassed by their owners to the point of death or abandoned on the streets. We are aiming for the Dallas metropolis area to spread the idea of animal cruelty and reveal to society that these creatures need to be treated with respect. Goody-Goody an alcohol company located on 2915 Greenville Avenue has decided to partner up with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty for Animals (SPCA) to begin a campaign to prevent the cruel treatment of animals. The SPCA is a wide known society that stands against the abuse and provides a shelter to those rescued pets and abandoned animals. They make sure the pet is provided with treatment till it is fully recovered and then placed up for adoption so they can find a new home that will treat them as family. Whats the problem? Stranded pets are filling the streets, as the population for abandoned animals is increasing in the United States. The problem is that these creatures are being improperly treated by their owners and are left for dead after all of the severe beating. There are many different forms of mistreatment of animals and the top five statistics of abuse comes in the form of abandonment (32%), hoarding (12%), shooting (11%), fighting (9%), and beating (7%) (HumaneSociety). Most of these animal owners fail to provide love for their pets and inflict either psychological pain or physical pain. Statistics show that 70% of the people who abuse an animal have been convicted for committing other crimes including violence (38%), property (44%), drug (37%),
and disorder crimes (37%) (Sutherlin). They look at these pets as inferior creatures, but they

are living creatures just like human beings. We need to stop this abuse on animals and protect them from dangerous owners before its too late. It may seem like such a small problem to worry about, but people fail to realize the severity of animal cruelty. It is time to spread the word to the Dallas community and help save all the lost and abused pets in the local area. Why Goody- Goody? Why an alcohol company to advertise animal cruelty? Goody- Goody is an alcohol beverage company located in the Dallas metropolis and is widely known by all the locals. Sure it may seem odd to use liquor as the promoter of good deeds, but in order for the whole community to know, a large company such as Goody- Goody is needed. The idea of alcohol is not going to be advertised, rather with the help of this company, SPCA is able to get a strong hold on the city of Dallas. Goody- Goody is able to target a large portion of the adult population to support the fight against animal cruelty and provide enough income to gather supporters. Why choose Dallas? According the Infoplease, Dallas ranks number nine on the list of largest cities in the United States and third largest in Texas. With such a large population, Dallas is the perfect location to begin a campaign for animal cruelty. The concept of animal abuse in the city was increasing to the point that commissioners are thinking about creating a special unit within the district attorney office specifically to prosecute animal abuse cases (CBS). Being able to succeed with this fight against animal cruelty in Dallas will make a way for change in Texas, then the United States, and eventually the World will hear our cry. Our purpose and goal of this dog adoption event we are throwing at Addison circle is to provide all the lost dogs a safe home they can live in, without being in a state of fear. This local event will help open up the eyes to the community to see what is really happening to these poor pets. We are wanting the City of Dallas to start taking these animal abuse cases more severely and provide a safer environment for both animals and humans to live in. Through this charity event, SPCA and Goody- Goody will be reaching out to the public by providing festivities to the guest and educating them on proper grooming techniques. The main reason for this all out event is to persuade the public to keep an eye out for abused dogs and prevent any future mistreatment of them. We want to treat these pets as if they were our own family members and give these animals a safe shelter they can peacefully be at ease with. Animals should be treated with respect, not cruelty. Save the animals, Save the world! Goody-Goody to the Rescue!

Proposal
Goody-Goody has come up with a plan to help out with this issue. Goody Goody introduces the annual Goody-Goody to the Rescue. This is our plan: Overview:

We are going to assist SPCA in picking up stray dogs from urban areas of Dallas (specifically the southern area of Dallas). Dogs that were previously rescued by SPCA will be given away along with the dogs that are rescued. We will also have a Dog of the Day on ABC every morning for three weeks prior to the actual event. We are going to advertise in the Dallas Morning News and D Magazine ahead of time as well. During the event visitors will be able to adopt dogs that have been rescued in the rescuing period. Location of event: This annual event will be held in the Addison Circle. There are three stages at Addison Circle, and we will be occupying all three stages along with most of the grassy area surrounding the stages.

When? The dogs will be rescued by the SPCA over a several week period prior to the event itself. The rescuing will take place during the last weeks of March up until the week before the event. During this period the dogs will be spayed/neutered as well as checked for diseases and overall health. The annual event is scheduled to be on April 28 from 11am - 6pm. We are hoping this event is very successful and leads to future events in the years following. Some of these non-food vendors include: Pet Supplies Plus, Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Dr. Pepper, Mans Best Friend, Dirty Dawgz (pet grooming). Goody Goody will sponsor an adult drink tasting, that will include wine, spirits and beer. The three main goals of Goody Good to the Rescue are: to raise awareness for stray dogs in urban Dallas, find homes for stray dogs, and produce an event that will make the City of Dallas proud. We believe our plan has what it takes to be very successful. It will be a boost to the Dallas economy because we will gather many different restaurants, businesses and other operations and will showcase them at our event, as well as the main purpose of our event, which is helping needy, stray dogs get a safe, nurturing home. Our plan is very thorough and is very financially sound, covering as many possible financial losses/gains imaginable. With that being said, we would like to officially offer our proposal to you, the Dallas City Commerce, in hopes that we will become your selection for the 2013 charity event.
