Nursing Practice It is solely based on books and theories Management of patients is conservative meaning there is limited independent nursing intervention; For example, if the patient manifest certain signs and symptoms, it should be referred to the physician immediately Nursing Intervention was ordered by the physician; For example, continue TSB is seen in the Doctors Order sheet No collaboration with the physician

Nursing Education It is spoon-feeding in a sense that teachers give all the information to students; the only role of the students is to read and memorize what is given to them The curriculum for the first 2 years is AHSE; if they finish AHSE, they have the option to continue BSN NCM subjects are only taken during their 3rd year level (BSN 3) They follow a standard RLE hours which is 8 hours of duty in the community and hospital for three times in a week Master Degree/ PostGraduate Education is not emphasized to them 25 cases is needed to complete in order to graduate

Nursing Research There is a formal class of research once a weekinstructor teaches student in the classroom The instructor came from the Research Center There is no research adviser; they do research on their own Statistics are performed manually Nursing Research is not as empowered as today The topics in conducting research is based on their interest

Case Management Protocol is observed per ward; if a certain case appears in a certain ward, they check the Case Management Protocol book and follow what is written there There is a good relationship with the physician

It is contextualized from books; they perform what is written in the book Training is needed to perform IVT Functional type of Nursing Delivery System is used Bedside care is emphasized; it is performed in partnership with the Nursing Aid

The curriculum is 2 years AHSE plus 2 years BSN RLE is modular meaning they will have 1 month of pure lecture then the remaining months are intended for duty days throughout the semester They are given a maximum of 2 weeks to have duty per ward and they will have case presentation every after each rotation The shift of their duty is only 7 AM to 3 PM; they dont have 3 PM to 11 PM shift and 11 PM to 7 AM shift 25 cases is needed to complete in order to graduate There is 2 year Pre-Nursing Course which is consisted mainly by Humanities and Social Science subjects; and a 3 year course of Graduate in Nursing Male nursing students increases in number 25 cases is needed to complete in order to graduate

There is a formal class of research There is no oral defense in front of panel; they do it in front of their classmates There is no research adviser There is no research agendathey make their research based on their interest There is no theme and subthemes not like today wherein students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of themes like Community, Maternal, and the like

Nursing Research is very limited; it is not given equal importance as compared today There is nursing research but it is informal- teachers do not meet inside the classroom They conduct nursing research if new disease emerges

There is a continuing education every weekend BSN is taken for 5 years (No Summer Classes) Entry level is BSN (BSN 1) Lectures are solely based on books They have a 3-3 plan meaning 3 days lecture and 3 days duty (8 hours of duty) Teachers teach in a traditional manner- chalk and board only The panelists during case presentations are doctors 25 cases is needed to complete in order to graduate There are 2 curriculum to choose from- BSN for 5 years or GN (General Nursing) for 4 years Continuing to BSN after graduating GN is allowed Nursing students are mostly female

There is no research class; case study are given as substitute to research
