document. Check that the external physical interfaces (- 48V power supply cabinet, PCM distribution cabinet, cable ways) are installed and located as indicated in site preparation and installation document. Check for presence and polarity of the - 48 V supply upstream the fuses (fuse holder open) on the customer power supply box, using a multimeter. Locate the cable way and check that it complies with current standards (the separation between high current and low current) according to the site preparation and installation document. Check that the access to the work area (passages, stairways, floors,...) does not present any obstacle which may block or slow down the cabinets installation. Check that the area foreseen for the cabinet installation is clean and tidy and complies with Alcatel-Lucent RNC Site Specification.

Fastening Adjacent Cabinets Together Before Levelling 1 2 Before a pair of cabinets together can be appropriately leveled or anchored, they must be fastened. Before starting the procedure, have the appropriate number of kits referenced NTRU6101. Ensure that the cabinets are positioned side-by-side and touching on the footprints where they are to be anchored. The upper pair of brackets have the same symmetry as the lower pair, and there is a pair both at the front and at the rear where the cabinets are joined. Align an L-shaped bracket. Fasten the bracket to the cabinet using the 4 provided self-tapping 6-mm (1/4-inch) bolts. Tighten to snug plus a 1/5 turn. Repeat step 3 and step 4 for the upper right bracket. Place the U-shaped bracket over the arm created by the left and right brackets. Fasten it to both cabinets using the 4 provided bolts and washers. You may need to temporarily shim some cabinet feet to align both the left and right bracket holes. Align an L-shaped bracket on the middle upper right front (long arm outwards). Fasten the bracket to the cabinet using 4 bolts and washers. Place the U-shaped bracket over the arm created by the left and right brackets. Fasten it to both cabinets using the 4 provided bolts and washers. You may need to temporarily shim some cabinet feet to align both the left and right bracket holes. Repeat step 4 to step 9 for the upper and lower rear joining brackets. Remove any shim from under the cabinet feet that were used to align bracket holes for fastening.

Levelling the Cabinet or Cabinet Pair 1 2 Unfasten the 2 large captive flat-blade screws per kick plate at both the front and the rear bottoms of the cabinet or cabinet pair. Reach through the side openings of the cabinet (or front, depending on ease of access) to adjust the middle levelers so that each foot is away from the floor. Adjust a leveler by turning the threaded shaft counter-clockwise. If the shaft cannot be turned manually, use an 8-cm (5/16- inch) hex driver at the top of the threaded shaft. Lay a level vertically against the side of a middle upright cabinet or pair of cabinet to identify which side of the cabinet is the highest (the cabinet feet are the levelers). Reach past the kick plate opening to adjust the foot downwards at the highest side of the cabinet. Each foot is adjustable by an 8-cm (5/16- inch) hex driver at the top of the threaded shaft. Monitor the level while adjusting. Stop when that face of the cabinet is levelled. Lay the level vertically along the front of the middle upright cabinet to identify which is the highest, the front or the rear of the cabinet. Adjust the highest corner feet downwards until the cabinet or cabinet pair is leveled. Reach through the side openings of the cabinet (or front, depending on ease of access) to adjust the middle levelers so that each foot touches the floor. Adjust each leveler by turning the threaded shaft clockwise. If the shaft cannot be turned manually, use an 8-cm (5/16- inch) hex driver at the top of the threaded shaft. Once the levelers touch the floor, turn each with the hex driver 1/8 turn clockwise The cabinet is ready to be anchored.

Note: To check the type of the site bonding networks refer to Table 6.3 Appendix C
Glossary on page 53 For Isolated Bonding Network (IBN) the cabinet must be grounded only by one unique ground cable directly connected to the SPC site. For the Common Bonding Network (CBN) the cabinet must be grounded by the ground cable and equipotentiality braids.
Note: There is no bend radius for electrical cable, however, observe a 1.5-inch bend radius for the 6 AWG (13.3 mm) cable. The BIP can accommodate a cable up to 6 AWG cable and it must be flexible enough:
To do right-angle bends from the lugs onto and along the horizontal 7 mm (0.25inch) thick steel cable-supporting bracket at the rear of the BIP. To do a right-angle bend up from the cable-supporting bracket to an overhead cable trough or down along the side of the cabinet. The following operations have to be performed:
Note: The ground cable NTQG03CF is an component of standard IRM kits for the 9370 RNC, defined
in the document: IM:10-9018. Step 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Action Route the cable according to site preparation and installation document. Cut the cable to the correct length and crimp the lugs with the proper tool. Connect the ground cable directly to the earth plate. Connect the ground cable to the ground bus bar located at the rear top of the cabinet. Label the cable. The label printed with Wheelie-Bin symbol is to be used if the country applies the WEEE directive (European Directive) Attach the cable to the cable tray using cable ties. Check the connection tightening.

Filler Panel
Filler Panel
At the front left of the BIP, remove both filler panels covering the BIM openings. Unfasten the captive screw until the panel comes off. Ensure all of the breakers on the new BIM are off (that is, the O on each breaker switch is pressed in). Hold the BIM with the screws on top and the end without breakers closest to the opening. Insert the BIM into the slot in the BIP. Keeping the BIM level, slide it gently into the slot until it connects with the backplane at the inside rear of the BIP. If there is resistance and the BIM is not fully seated, pull it out and inspect the backplane pins and the BIM connector for anything bent. You may need a flashlight to see inside the BIP. On the lower front of the BIM, align and fasten the captive screw until snug plus a 1/5 turn against the BIP chassis. Do not strip the threads or hole because the module cannot seat properly. Repeat steps above for the second BIM. At the front of the BIP, swing the lower cover upwards from its upper edge and fasten the two captive screws.
Facing the rear of the switch, insert the narrow end of the cooling unit between the frame uprights, and above the lower (rear) cooling unit.

Procedure 12 9370 RNC Single Shelf to Dual Shelf Upgrade (Page 4 of 13) Without pinching your fingers, rest the narrow end of the cooling unit on the top of the lower cooling unit. Figure 34 Front and rear views of the upper and lower cooling units
Slide the cooling unit inwards and downwards until the mounting ears near the fan end touch the frame uprights. The top of the lower cooling unit becomes the bottom of the upper cooling unit. Shift the cooling unit mounting-ear holes to align with bolt holes on the frame uprights. While holding the cooling unit in position, have a helper loosely fasten a 10-mm (3/8-inch) bolt through an upper mounting-ear hole.
Method 08-9696
Procedure 12 9370 RNC Single Shelf to Dual Shelf Upgrade (Page 5 of 13) Loosely fasten another bolt through the other upper mounting-ear hole, then the bottom 2. While turning the bolt, ensure that it is perpendicular to the hole to prevent cross-threading. Tighten all bolts to snug plus a 1/4 turn. If any cable for the F1, F2, or F3 connectors is unplugged, plug it in. The connectors fit only one way. Ensure the tab on the side engages. Plug in the A and B power cable assembly connectors into the appropriate connector on the unit. Each connector fits only one way. Ensure that the tab on each side of a connector fully engages.
Have the helpers hold the replacement shelf assembly in front of the frame or rack so that the large deeper opening is facing you and the cable channel is at the bottom. This is the same orientation as the removed shelf assembly. Insert the shelf above the cooling unit and between the frame uprights. Do not let the shelf rest against the cooling unit. While holding the shelf, align its 16 bolt holes (8 per vertical side) on the 2 mounting ears with the previous holes on the frame uprights or racks adapter brackets. Ensure that the bottom holes are as close to the cooling unit as possible without touching it.
Method 08-9696
Procedure 12 9370 RNC Single Shelf to Dual Shelf Upgrade (Page 6 of 13) Loosely fasten a bolt through 1 of the top mounting holes on 1 upright or adapter bracket. Loosely fasten the top bolt on the other side.
Note: If you use a pair of the eye holes that allows threading 2 bolts before placing the shelf
assembly against the uprights, and then passing the mounting ears over the bolts to hang there until other bolts are fastened, you must use only the top two, thread at least four-fifths of the each bolt into the upright, and hang the shelf assembly on both bolts simultaneously. Otherwise the weight of the assembly can bend the mounting ear. Orient, place, and loosely fasten each mounting bracket back where it was on top of the mounting ears of the shelf assembly. Check that all remaining mounting ear holes are still aligned with the previous upright or adapter bracket holes, then loosely fasten the remaining bolts through the shelf mounting ears. From bottom to top, tighten all bolts to snug plus a 1/4 turn. Power Cables Connection
Note: The BIP can accommodate a cable up to 2 AWG (35 mm) and it must be flexible enough:
To do right-angle bends from the lugs onto and along the horizontal 7 mm (0.25-inch) thick steel cable-supporting bracket at the rear of the BIP. To do a right-angle bend up from the cable-supporting bracket to an overhead cable trough or down along the side of the cabinet. Make sure that the breakers or fuses located in the customer DC distribution panel are switched off. The power cable is an component of standard IRM kits for the 9370 RNC, defined in the document: IM:10-9018 9 Route the cable according to site preparation and installation document, between the upper shelf cabinet and the customer distribution box. Cut the cable to the correct length at the customer distribution side. Insert a sleeve on each wire and one at the end of the sheath.
