GPS GSM Based Tracking System

Abstract- This proposed work is an attempt to design a tracking unit that uses the global positioning system to determine the precise location of a object, person or other asset to which it is attached and using GSM modem this information can be transmit to remote user !t can pro"ide tele#monitoring system for inter#cities transportation "ehicles such as ta$is and buses This system contains single#board embedded system that is e%uipped with GPS and GSM modems along with &'M processor that is installed in the "ehicle (uring object motion, its location can be reported by SMS message & software package is de"eloped to read, process, analy)e and store the incoming SMS messages The use of GSM and GPS technologies allows the system to track object and pro"ides the most up#to# date information about ongoing trips !f a password like SMS is sent by the owner, it automatically stops the "ehicle or we can use it for different other work, it can pro"ide real time control This system finds its application in real time traffic sur"eillance !t could be used as a "aluable tool for real time tra"eler The current system can be able to pro"ide monitoring process from anywhere The purpose of this system is to design and integrate a new system which is integrated with GPS# GSM to pro"ide following feature* a+ ,ocation information, b+ 'eal time tracking using SMS, c+ track bus dri"er acti"ity d+ -ommunication is instantaneous therefore we can recei"e running report %uickly !t is completely integrated so that once it is implemented in all "ehicles, then it is easy to track "ehicles any time.

!/T'0(1-T!0/ Proposed design is cost#effecti"e, reliable and has the function of accurate tracking 2hen large object or "ehicles were spread out o"er ground, the owner corporations often found it difficult to keep track of what was happening They re%uired some type of system to determine where each object was at any gi"en time and for how long it tra"elled &lso the need of tracking in consumer3s "ehicle use to pre"ent any kind of theft because police can use tracking reports to locate stolen "ehicle GSM and GPS based tracking system will pro"ide effecti"e, real time "ehicle location, and reporting & GPS# GSM based tracking system will inform where your "ehicle is and where it has been, how long it has been The system uses geographic position and time information from the Global Positioning Satellites The system has an 40n#Board Module4 which resides in the "ehicle to be tracked The 0n#Board module consists of GPS recei"er, a GSM modem and &'M processor !t can pro"ide tele# monitoring and management system for inter#cities transportation "ehicles such as ta$is and buses 567 (uring "ehicle motion, its real#time parameters such as location are reported by SMS message The system takes ad"antage of wireless technology in

pro"iding powerful management transportation engine The use of GSM and GPS technologies allows the system to track "ehicle and pro"ides the most up#to# date information about ongoing trips This system finds its application in real time traffic sur"eillance !t could be used as a "aluable tool for real time tra"eler information, congestion monitoring, and system e"aluation 587 &n intelligent, automated "ehicle tracking system can resol"e following problems such as, late arri"als to scheduled, improper use of company time and resources, unsafe dri"ing habits, assigned routes, inefficient dispatching, and passenger3s dissatisfaction This can lead to better traffic flow modeling and a better understanding of dri"er beha"ior This project includes "arious features like ingenuity, simplicity of design and easy implementation !t is completely integrated so that once it is implemented in all "ehicles, then it is easy to track "ehicle any time 597 !! :&'(2&'. (.S!G/ :ardware framework for tracking system is shown in ;ig < System contains high Performance &'M controller, a GPS, and GSM modem and o"erall system reside into a "ehicle & tracking system will pro"ide effecti"e real time "ehicle location reporting Tracking system will inform where your "ehicle is and where it has been, how longer it has been there The basic function of in "ehicle unite is to ac%uire, Monitor and transmit the position latitude, longitude, time to management center either at fi$ed inter"al or on demand Microcontroller unit form the heart of tracking unit, which ac%uires and process the position data from the GPS module The GPS recei"er of "ehicle terminal recei"es and resol"es the na"igation message broadcasted by GPS position satellites, computes the longitude and latitude of "ehicle coordinates,

transforms it into the GSM message form by GSM communication controller, and sends the message to monitoring center "ia the GSM network
