Abstrak : THE INFLUENCE OF HEALTH EDUCATION WITH SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION AT MOTHERS CHANGING BEHAVIOR IN PROVIDING BREASTFEED SUPLEMENTARY FOOD FOR INFANTS LESS THAN 6 MONTH Quasi experiment at Ngadiboyo village, Rejoso district, Nganjuk Regency By: MICHE DEWI ANGGRAINI Breastfeeding supplementary food is very important for baby over six months. Many mothers in the community but provide breastfeeding supplementary food in infants before the age of 6 month. Exclusive breastfeeding in Rejoso district was 7.99% and in the Ngadiboyo village was 7.5% at 2009. 95% family gives breastfeed supplementary food for infant less than 6 month. Lack of information and unsupported culture are one cause of this condition. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of small group discussions on mothers changing behavior in providing breastfeed supplementary food for infants less than 6 month in the Ngadiboyo village, Rejoso district, Nganjuk Regency.This study used quasi experiment with the design of pre-post test design. Population consisted of mothers who had taken of infants less than 6 month in the Ngadiboyo village. Sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The population was 40 families that had infants less than 6 month. Total sample was 22 respondents who were selected based on inclusion criteria. There were eleven of respondents as treatment group with small group discussion and another as control group. Data were collected using questionnaire for knowledge, attitude as well as observation for practice. Analysis used by the Wilcoxon signed rank test and Mann Whitney U test with significance level p0.05.Result revealed the presence of influence in treatment and control groups. In treatment group the level of dependence due to mothers knowledge had p=0.005, while p=0,233 in control group. In mothers attitude p=0.025 for treatment group, and p=0.568 in the control group. Mean while mothers practice p=0.003, and p=0.063 in the control group.It can be concluded that there is significant influence of health education with small group discussion on mothers changing behavior in providing breastfeed supplementary food for infants less than 6 month. Further studies should be use more respondent. In health education, nurse should use small group discussion because more effective and audience can more participate.
