ACTION SONG COMPETITION FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS RULES AND GUIDELINES 1.0 Aim The Action Song Competition is held to encourage and increase the use of English language among the younger pupils. 2.0 Objective 2.1 2.2 2.3 !.0 To develop confidence and familiarity with the English language among the younger pupils. To develop skills of integrating scripting of music and movement with language. To provide a platform for learning in a fun and en oya!le manner.

C"m#etiti"$ R%&e 3.1 Eligi!ility" This competition is open to Ye'( T)(ee pupils from government#aided schools only. 3.1.1 Each Action Song team comprises mem!ers from the school. 3.2 'me

Team" Each team should comprise * t" 1* pupils inclusive of performers and musicians. Each team should !e accompanied !y 2 teachers. Time" $n#stage presentation is * t" + minutes. %arks will !e deducted thereafter. 2 minutes is allocated for stage preparation be,"(e and another 2 minutes ',te( the presentation with the two teachers as stage technicians. 3.3.1 Pe(,"(m'$ce )"%&- be c"$,i$e- t" t)e t'.e "$&/. 3.3.2 The timing of the presentation starts with the ,i( t m"veme$t or ,i( t 0"(- uttered !y the singers or '$/ "%$- e,,ect produced.

6udges" The competition shall !e udged !y a panel of 3 or ' udges. 7ecisions" 3.11.1 A panel of at least 3 or ' udges will !e appointed for all the rounds at all levels. The competition at the national level will !e udged !y a panel of ' udges+ appointed !y the 7ivision of Co# curriculum and Arts+ %inistry of Education. 3.11.2 -oints will !e awarded according to the scoresheet. 3.11.3 The team with the ma ority of votes will !e declared the winner. 3.11.& The decision of the udges is final. 3.11.' 8ndividual team marks will not !e disclosed.

:ote" The winning teams from the previous year may participate in the current year !ut the te)t and presentation must not !e an e)act replica. This concept paper is valid until further notification or revision from the %inistry of Education and can !e used at all levels for competitions organi*ed !y the %inistry.
