Language Arts We have begun working with primary and secondary sources to learn more about immigration and how it affected the people who traveled to this country. Children will become experts and share their materials with others to grasp a deeper understanding of immigration. Wax Museum information will be coming home soon! Children will read an appropriate biography of their choice and prepare to be that person in our grade 4 wax museum! Dates TBA
Writing
Our Monster Exchange descriptive paragraphs are almost ready to be sent west to Ogden, UT via the web! This week the children will focus on their list photograph poetry and return to narrative writing at the end of the week as time permits.
Math This week we will complete Unit 10 with symmetry, fractions multiplication, and adding/subtracting negative integers and take the assessment. On Wed. we will have a Mock Math MCAS yes, gum/hard candy is acceptable. We also will focus on solving open responses in multiple ways. FAMILY LETTERS can be found on-line this year! As in past years, they contain unit vocabulary, activities, and selected homework answers. Social Studies We are onto our sub-region projects! Children will work with small groups showing how they would help to encourage people to move back or visit the Midwest Region! States and capitals quiz on Thursday, April 17.
Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto The students have successfully made circuits using a lightbulb and a motor. This week, we will discuss open and closed circuits and then they will learn what type of materials block the flow of electricity (insulators) and which all electricity to flow (conductors).
