Why children like biography? - About a persons life, character, temperament, his social situation, his experiences & things he did - written by someone else to give information about those famous people. Why children like autobiography? -Read about the writers life, a famous person that children like. - To learn more about the writer. Why children like folklore? - a form of oral jokes, stories & varieties of wordplay - about weather, plants, animals & social activities - reinforces moral values & builds wit.

The Diary of A Young Girl by Anne Frank e) i) Folk tales - prose narratives which are regarded as fiction which usually tell the adventures of animal or human characteristics. Folklore Sayings, verbal compositions, and social rituals that have been handed down orally rather than in written form. E.g. The Legend of Mahsuri ii) Fables - brief tales in which animal characters that talk & act like humans indicate a moral lesson or satirize human conduct. E.g. The Hare and the Tortoise

Why children like fables? - All animal characters in this story talk and act like humans; - indicate a moral lesson clearly or satirize human conduct.

iii) Legends - a story purported to be historical in nature but not proven. - Where evidence of the existence of actual historical figures exists, figures like King Richard are legends due in large part to the many stories that have been created about them. E.g. Hang Tuah
