Have you ever made something you really liked? A
drawing, an invention, or a special project? You probably
kept it in a place where everyone could see it and
where it would be safe. Can you remember how
pleased you felt?
Guess what? God feels the same way about you
only a zillion times stronger! He knows that no two of
His children are alike. God is happy with you. God not
only loves you; He likes you. God is proud of you and
wants to present you to the whole world.

Thoughts to Grow On
Have you ever seen a caterpillar spin itself into a
cocoon? An amazing thing is quietly happening inside
that silky womb: the caterpillar is being transformed
into a butterfly.
God is working an even more amazing
transformation in you! And you dont have to curl up
inside a cocoon to experience it. God is transforming
the regular you into the new creation you. That new
creation you can do something the regular you could
never doit can be like Jesus!

Have you ever heard of a farmer planting corn seed
to grow tomatoes? Of course not. Things simply do not
work that way. If you want to harvest tomatoes, youd
better plant tomato seeds.
The same is true with your life. If you want your life
to be truly good, plant the seeds of godly words, godly
thoughts, and godly actions in your heart and mind.

fun and exciting things come your way. But what do
you do during the hard times? How do you act during
the bad times?
Do you groan?
Do you complain?
Do you whine or throw a fit?
Jesus has a better way. Be thankful. If youll let Him,
Jesus will help you find something to be thankful for in
every situationeven in your worst times.

Do you remember the story of Jonah? Hes the guy who
was swallowed by the fish. Do you know that Jonahs
biggest problem wasnt the gigantic fish? It was his heart.
Jonah didnt want to share Gods love with people he
didnt like because he knew that if he did, God would
forgive them and they wouldnt be destroyed.
God taught Jonah how to love his enemies.
Have you ever wanted bad things to happen to
someone you didnt like? Take a tip from what God
taught Jonah: always remember that God loves
everyone.

Step 1
Scrunch your eyebrows downward.
Turn your lips downward. Tighten
your arms across your chest.
Sigh heavily. Grumble, Its too
hard! five times.
Step 2
Relax your face. Raise your eyebrows.
Smile. Shout, I can do it! five times.
Did you feel the difference? It takes far more energy
to be negative than it does to be positive. Thats why
being a grump is so exhausting!

Imagine youve made a horrible mistake. However,
when you tell your folks about it, they say, Thats okay.
Well give you another chance.
Imagine how relieved you would feel. It would seem
as if the weight of the whole world had been taken off
your shoulders. You deserved to be punished but were
given mercy instead.

H TodayH Listen. Jesus is talking to you today. Hes

telling you to show the same mercy to those who have
wronged you. Does anyone come to mind? How could you
show that person mercy?

My Amazing World
On August 16, 1996, at Chicagos Brookfield Zoo, a
female gorilla named Binti shocked the world when
she gentl y rescued a three-year-old boy who had
fallen into the gorilla exhibit. Binti brought the boy to
the zookeepers entrance of her cage where helpers
were able to take the child to safety.
