1 Introduction
The purpose of this document is to help you understand the capabilities, requirements, and features of the Xerox 650/1300 Continuous Feed (CF) Printer. Review of this material is required prior to signing an order for the Xerox 650/1300 CF Printer. This document addresses high-level expectations. Additional details are available from your Xerox Sales Team. Guidelines for site planning, installation planning, product documentation and training materials are provided in the Xerox 650/1300 CF Printer documentation that you will receive. The specifications stated in this document generally refer to a single engine, unless otherwise stated.
2 Product Overview
The Xerox 650/1300 CF printer sets a new benchmark in the world of continuous web printing. The flagship entry in Xeroxs continuous feed family sets a new standard for productivity in any environment. At 300 feet per minute, its our fastest Continuous Feed printing system. The 1200 x 600dpi output print resolution makes it our highest image quality performer. You also get highspeed scalable RIPing, complex document production, industry-leading reliability, and the flexibility to process and print multiple data streams. Plus, its fully supported by Xeroxs end-toend serviceunmatched in the entire industry. The following table contains some of the high level specifications of the product .

In duplex mode, printing is restricted in a zone surrounding the registration and sheet id marks that could conflict with data being printed. This zone is described in Appendix A for pinfed paper and Appendix B for Pinless paper. 2 In duplex mode, printing is restricted in a zone surrounding the registration and sheet id marks that could conflict with data being printed. System
Xerox 650/1300 CF printer Maximum duty cycle:
AMPV
2M (linear feet)
Maximum Duty cycle is defined as: The maximum recommended monthly print volume support under standard vendor supplied service (3x7 shift coverage). This defines the upper end of expected customer volume band for the device. The Customer should expect more frequent service calls as volumes increase. Targeted maintenance service call activity prints between service calls on a digital web production system are dependent on customer requirements for volume, applications, and throughput material. Trained operators can optimize performance output and minimize service calls.

Comments
Xerox performs a pre-site inspection to validate adequate operator and service space. Appropriate delivery access Dedicated power required For connection of FreeFlow DocuSP controller and or Printer Controller Done at pre-site inspection This is essential to the systems ability to perform as expected; Xerox will not be able to resolve performance problems encountered when the area is not maintained within this operating range. Temperature and humidification control for sites exceeding environmental boundaries. To ensure successful connection into customers network or channel for job submission etc.

7 Operations
Item Xerox 650/1300 CF printer
Warm up from Power Saver approx. 4 to 5 min. When powered up, the warm up time will be up to 30 minutes to assure good IQ if the internal heater has been turned off. The machine can be powered down with the internal heater remaining on. When printing in native IPDS mode, jam recovery is controlled by the host and recovery uses standard IPDS jam recovery specification. When printing PDL data streams with FreeFlow DocuSP, several configurable recovery options are available. (information detailed in DPCF-Pub Users Guide) System will only complete a job when it is accurate that is, no mismatched pages in duplex applications. Xerox continuous feed printers utilize a Page ID synchronous verification system to validate side one/side two data matching. If there is a mismatch, the system will immediately stop showing an error condition. Most job interruptions are easily recoverable. In rare circumstances a print job may have to be resubmitted and re-RIPed. Billing meters on the continuous feed system increment by one for every 100 feet of print. (Billing is actually calculated by the linear foot)

Paper Jams
Paper jams in the system are immediately indicated on the printer GUI interfaces. This includes jams in pre/post finishing devices connected to the Xerox PLB (Printer Line Bus) management system
Job Integrity
The printing system knows the last successful sheet delivered to output with Page ID verification enabled. Marks are placed on sheet in upstream engine and detection and validation occurs before printing on the downstream engine with a fault condition issued. Marks are placed only on one side. Job recovery operations are documented in the DPCF-Pub or other DFE Users Guide. Ask local analyst or sales representative to explain your meter operation.

As with any digital printer, some jobs may cause print performance issues. Xerox continuous feed printer hardware & software design has been engineered to minimize these occurrences. When using FreeFlow DocuSP for PDL printing, four startup modes are GUI selectable to enable the operator to select for optimum performance: Print as received Print after job received Print after n images received Job collection mode When using the FreeFlow DocuSP, the operator can select one of the print startup modes from the printer GUI interface to gain peak performance from the printer: Job collection mode
Jobs with large quantities of images, logos, graphics and very high density pages or excessively high character content etc. may cause clutching of printer (starting & stopping during print job)
When PDL printing, large numbers of jobs containing small page counts can cause performance degradation

10 Overview of Sub-Systems
The following sections give more detailed descriptions of the capabilities and limitations of each of the major system components.
On-board Controller
The On-board controller controls; data input from external devices, RIP processing, IOT video interface, duplex function, print line management and data master.
GUI Controller
By communicating with the On-board controller, the GUI controller controls the IOT operation panel (GUI touch panel) as well as the data input interface when used.

Host Connectivity
Xerox 650/1300 CF printer has not been validated with all front-ends. When using non-validated frontends there is a chance that the customer may run into problems, which would probably require support from the front-end vendor.

The processor can RIP (process images for printing) at either 300 X 300 DPI, 600 x 600 DPI. Images RIPped at 300DPI will provide faster performance when processing and will save files that are smaller in size. The default setting for the system is 600 DPI.

Area Coverage
The Xerox 650/1300 CF printer uses automated controls of toner, development, tone reproduction, and the internal environment to assure consistent printing. The printer has the capability for very high area coverage
The control system is designed to run within a specific range of quality. Printer operators also have the ability to manually adjust lightness/darkness controls from the printer GUI. Best print quality is achieved at area coverage under 30%. NOTE: Some customer might observe a shift over time in image darkness in shaded or dark images. Operator and / or service adjustments might be required to maintain darkness consistency over time.
