Materials Bedspread Weight Cotton Thread #10 White- 50 Yards Cream- 15 Yards Sage Green- 40 Yards Lavender- 20 Yards Steel Crochet Hook No. 10 1 Yard - inch wide White Ribbon Tapestry Needle Size: 0-3mo Sole Measurement: 3 inches. (A slightly larger shoe can be made using a No. 7 hook) Notes US Standard Crochet Terms used. Please read directions/Notes before beginning. Do not turn at end of rows unless noted. Partially work over the thread tails for less weaving. Beginning chain counts as first stitch unless noted. Measurements and amount of thread used are approximate. Special Stitches Double Crochet Decrease: (dc dec) Work a double crochet in the noted stitch leaving 2 loops on hook. Work another double crochet in the next stitch until 3 loops remain on hook. Yo and draw through all 3 loops on the hook. Half Double Crochet Decrease: (hdc dec) Yo, insert hook in the noted stitch and draw up a loop, leaving 3 loops on the hook. Yo and draw up a loop in the next stitch. Yo and draw through all 5 loops on the hook. V-stitch: Dc, ch 1, dc in same stitch. Back Post Single Crochet: (bpsc) Insert hook in BACK of stitch from right to left around vertical post of noted stitch, yarn over and draw loop through.

SOLE Using White thread, ch 24. Row 1: Work 3 dc in 4th ch (count as 1st dc), dc in next 19 ch, then work 8 dc in last ch. Working on opposite side (work over beg thread tail), dc in next 19 unworked loops. Work 4 dc in base of beg 4-dc group, join with sl st into top of beg ch. (54 dc, RS of sole; thread tail marks back.) Row 2: Ch 3, dc in same st. Work 2 dc in each of the next 3 sts, dc in next 19 sts. Work 2 dc in each of next 8 dc, dc in next 19 sts, work 2 dc in each of last 4 sts, join with sl st into top of beg ch-3. (70 dc). Row 3: Ch 3, *2 dc next st, dc next st* 3 times, 2 dc in next st. Dc in next 19 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st* twice, 2 dc in next st. Dc in next 7 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st* twice, 2 dc in next st. Work dc in next 19 sts, 2 dc next st, dc next st* 4 times, join with sl st into top of beg ch-3. (84 dc) Row 4: Ch 1, sc in same st and in each st around, join with sl st into BACK loop of beg sc. (84 sc) Row 5: Ch 1, hdc in same st and into BACK loop of each st around, join with sl st into top of beg sc. (84 hdc) Row 6: Ch 3, dc in each st around, join with sl st to beg ch-3. End off. Row 7: Using Cream thread, sl st into last st of prev row. Ch 2, dc in same st and in next 29 sts. Dc decrease next 2 sts, 12 times, dc in remaining 30 sts, join with sl st into beg hdc. (72 dc) Row 8: Ch 1, hdc in same st and in next 29 sts. Hdc decrease next 2 sts, 6 times. Hdc in remaining 30 sts, join with sl st into beg hdc. End off. Weave in thread tails, but keep beg tail for referencing WS of sole. (66 hdc)

CROCODILE STITCH (Noted as: CS)

Base Row Row 1: Referring to photo for placement, sl st Sage Green thread into the CENTER front of sole at toe and on RS of shoe. (Blue Arrow) Ch 4, dc in same st. (Beg V-stitch made) *Skip next 2 sts, dc in next st, skip next 2 sts, dc,

ch 1, dc in next st* (V-Stitch made), repeat from * to *, join with ch 2, sl st into 3rd ch of beg ch-4. (11 V-Stitches, 11 dc made) First Side of Crocodile Stitch With the top of Base Row V-Stitches on RS facing to the RIGHT and toe facing UPWARD, insert hook through BACK and AROUND post of 1st dc of VStitch (Red Arrow) and work 5 trc. NOTE: Green Arrow shows 2nd post of V-Stitch. Designers Note: Before you turn your work, insert your hook in noted stitch and the shoe will turn easily and the dc will be right on the edge and easy to gain access to.

Second Side of Crocodile Stitch a.) Ch 2, turn shoe so that the top of Base Row is facing to the LEFT, toe facing DOWNWARD. Yo, and insert hook through BACK and AROUND post of 2nd dc of V-Stitch at toe. (Green Arrow). Work 5 dc around this dc post. (Red Arrow shows dc between each CS.) b.) Holding shoe with WS facing, bpsc around next dc on Base Row to the RIGHT of completed CS. c.) TURN work around so that top of Base Row is facing to the RIGHT and the 1st dc of the V-Stitch is waiting for your hook.

Photo on left shows ch-2 completed, hook inserted into bottom of 2nd bar of V-Stitch ready for you to work 5 dc. Continue working CS around upper edge of shoe, ending with sl st into center hole of first completed scale. End off and weave in all thread tails. (11 CS made)

FAIRY FLOWERS! NOTE: Photo shows flowers in progress. Fold shoe at lengthwise and hold with toe facing to the RIGHT and the CS stitches facing downward. Beginning at the 1st CS to the RIGHT at heel and using Lavender thread, sl st into the hole in the center of that CS. (Red Arrow marks one of those holes) *Ch 5, sl st, ch 6, sl st, ch 5, sl st into that same center hole. bpsc around the dc between scales*. Repeat from * to *, twice more. Ch 8, bpsc around same dc (1st Ribbon Loop made; Blue Arrow) Repeat from * to * five times, Ch 8, bpsc around same dc. (2nd Ribbon Loop made) Repeat * to * three more times. Join with sl st around last dc. End off and weave in all thread tails. Flatten petals. SOLE TRIM Holding shoe on RS, sl st Lavender thread into an unworked loop at center BACK of sole. *Ch 3, skip next st, sc into next st* repeat from * to *, join with sl st into base of beg ch. End off. Weave in thread tails. Ribbon Tie Cut 2 lengths of the White Ribbon, weave through the loops, tie into a bow and cut ends to size and on a diagonal to prevent fraying. Repeat instructions for second shoe.
