Subject and Object Pronouns


Pronouns that are used as the subjects of sentences are subject pronouns. We learned about the term Underground Railroad. It first appeared in print in the 1840s. Singular subject pronouns: I, you, he, she, it Plural subject pronouns: we, you, they When you use a persons name and a pronoun in a compound subject, be sure to use a subject pronoun. When I is used with another pronoun or a noun, I comes last. Betty and I studied the Underground Railroad. She and I imagined following that route. Pronouns that are used in the predicates of sentences are called object pronouns. Betty told me about Harriet Tubman. She read about her. Singular object pronouns: me, you, him, her, it Plural object pronouns: us, you, them
