The Kyoto protocol

Carbon offsets
A carbon offset is a reduction in emissions of carbon dioxide or green house gases made in order to compensate or to offset an emission made somewhere else. It is mostly done through sponsoring activities or projects that increase carbon dioxide absorption such as afforestation and reforestation. Scientific Researches show that emissions need to be reduced 80% by 2050 to stabilize our climate and prevent negative impacts. A carbon offset program is an immediate and cost effective way to meet stakeholder pressure by setting and meeting stretching carbon reduction targets prepare for increasing regulation and mitigate future risks as carbon becomes an increasingly costly commodity

The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement created under the UNFCOCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) THE KYOTO binding obligations on industrialized countries to cut their emissions of green house gasses. The debate was based on the greenhouse emissions and avoiding dangerous climate change. Environment economists are critical to Kyoto Protocol since it is outweighing benefits, and could be optimistic and highly inequitable and inefficient due to greenhouse gas emissions.

Renewable Energies pros and cons

Tidal and wave energy The sources of the energy are the gravitational fields from sun and the moon, combined with the earths rotation around its axis, resulting in high and low tides, which makes it renewable. More for its pros, its environment friendly and has a long life span. Its cons are that its not close to land and its expensive. Geothermal Wind Geothermal energy is environmentally friendly and doesnt cause a significant amount of pollution. Besides It costs less and stable prices. Its almost available everywhere. The cons of geothermal energy are the fact that geothermal power plants can in extreme cases cause earthquakes and have led to subsidence in both Germany and New Zealand. Solar energy Solar energy is found from the sun so its a renewable and sustainable energy source. It is available for many different purposes and it requires a very low maintenance. The cons are that the energy storage is expensive and it requires space. Hydropower Besides being renewable and ecofriendly it has high efficiency once the dam is built. It also has no waste disposal issue. The cons are related to the dams because building large hydroelectric power plants can lead to major environmental damage if not done properly. They dont function in time of drought. Algae/ bio fuel It is renewable and can be converted into gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. Its cons are that It is expensive and since the technology is still developing growing algae can be risky. sources http://algaebio.weebl y.com/pros-andcons.html http://hydroearth.blo gspot.com/2012/10/t he-pros-and-cons-ofusing-
