Title of Activity: Shape Up

Number of Teams & Group Size: Minimum 3 people per group Maximum 7 people per group At least 2 teams

Logistics Needed: For each group: 1 x tubular nylon climbing webbing / rope / belt ~ 2 - 4 meters long

Time Allocated: 10 - 30 minutes

Goal: Form a sequence of letters, numbers, symbols, and shapes

Preparation & Set-Up: Ensure sufficient tubular nylon climbing webbing for all groups The tubular nylon climbing webbing / rope should be unknotted Distribute the tubular nylon climbing webbing to all groups

Directions for Conducting the Activity: 1. Inform all participants in their groups that they must hold onto the unknotted tubular nylon climbing webbing at all times. 2. While holding onto it, you will announce either a letter of the alphabet, a number, a symbol, or a shape. Each group will then use the tubular nylon climbing webbing to form it as quickly as possible. 3. Begin the activity with something simple to allow groups to get used to it, such as simple letters, numbers or shapes. 4. Once youve completed at least 2 rounds of the activity, you may move on to more advanced symbols or shapes. 5. Depending on the amount of time allocated, you may conduct up to 10 rounds of this activity.

Specific Rules: 1. All participants in the group must be holding on to the unknotted tubular nylon climbing webbing at all times. 2. When a letter / alphabet, number, symbol, or shape is announced, teams must form it using the tubular nylon climbing webbing, as quickly as possible, while holding on to it at all times.
