1 INSTALLATION
--------------

1.1 System requirements

Before installing the game, make sure your system meet the following minimum
requirements:
- Pentium 90 MHz processor, 8Mb RAM
- DirectX6 compatible video card capable of 800x600, 16bit color mode (2Mb
reccomended)
- DirectX6 compatible sound card
- Windows95/98 and DirectX 6 installed
- 4Mb HD space

1.2 Installing the game

Before you start the installation process, you MUST uninstall any old version of
Arkanoid previously installed on your system. To do so, run the uninstallation
program supplied with the old version, and remove any leftover files.

To install Arkanoid for Win32, simply unzip the archive to specified installation
path.

2 RUNNING THE GAME

------------------

2.1 The Options menu

In the Options menu, selected from the Main menu, you can set which skin you want
to use with the 'Skin Browser', and which control type you want to use in the game
(Keyboard/Mouse). Make your selection with the keyboard arrows and change with
'Enter'. You can save the current configuration with 'Save options', and go back
to the Main menu with 'Esc'.
2.2 Controlling the ship

The ship can be controlled by either keyboard or mouse (set in the Options menu).

2.2.1 Keyboard

The following keys are used to control the ship during gameplay:

left arrow - Steer ship left

right arrow - Steer ship right
right/left Ctrl - Fire missile/release ball
Esc - End game
P - Pause (press P again to resume the game)
K - Kill current ball (useful if ball is stuck)

2.2.2 Mouse

The following controls are implemented with the mouse:

[move mouse left/right] - Moves the ship left/right

left button - Fires missiles/release ball

The keyboard keys Esc and P are also activated in mouse control mode.

2.3 Blocks

The following number of hits are required to destroy the blocks in the game:

Blue - 1 hit
Red - 1 hit
Yellow - 1 hit
White - 1 hit
Green - 2 hits
Grey - Unbreakable (can be destroyed with Ball Of Fire)

2.4 Power-ups

The following power-ups can be collected in the game:

A - Armageddon (MultiBall Of Fire)

B - MultiBall (6 balls)
C - Complete Control (Ball sticks to ship each bounce)
D - Degenerate (Ship size is decreased)
F - Ball Of Fire (Ball move through blocks without bouncing)
H - HyperBall (Always 3 balls. If one ball dies, a new is created)
M - Missiles (Equips the ships with missiles)
P - PlayerReSize (Ship size is increased)
R - Restore (All improvements are removed)
S - Score (Score is increased with 1000)
W - Level Warp (Move directly to next level)
X - X-tra life (Adds one life)

2.5 Hiscore table

When game over and your score is better than at least number 10 on the hiscore
table (displayed if waiting duing main menu), you'll have the chance to write your
initials for the hall of fame. Use the arrows to loop through the letter,
selecting 3 letters by pressing enter. When finished, select the 'End' letter and
press enter.

Please send us your best hiscores. Attach the file hiscore.dat located in the Data
subdirectory and write your name, email address and Homepage URL (if any) in the
body of the message and send to hiscore@chaossoft.com. The best 10 scores will be
posted on our Arkanoid Hiscore Page. Any player who manages to complete the game
by reaching and destroyng all the blocks on level 20, will be added to the
Arkanoid Hall Of Fame.

3 UNINSTALLING THE GAME

3.1 Removing files

To uninstall Arkanoid for Win32, you have to remove all the game files manually.
