Concrete Work In addition in case of high temperature during the pouring day is encountered the pouring is preferred to be carried out during the night time. In case of sudden rain, plastic sheeting or canvas will be used to cover the concrete top surface yet to set during concrete pouring. The plastic sheets will be provided sufficiently both for emergency case of sudden rain and for fully cover the whole concrete surface immediately once the concrete is reached its initial set. In case of the heavy rain continues during construction, it will be provided that temporary framework by rigid rope with proper slope to cover whole area. If it is rains, immediately drafted with prepared plastic sheet.

Pre-pour inspection of the rebar, form panels, embedded items and construction joints will be carried out before concrete pouring. Four (4) concrete pumps and One(1) back-up pump will be engaged for concrete pouring e.g. 4 pumps is organized for concrete pouring; 1pump will be at the workface for standby and will be on duty when the pouring pump is trouble or breakdown. The concrete pump arrangement will be prior

arrangement for their highest efficiency when the concrete placement is to be carried. Internal-type concrete vibrators will be used for concrete compaction during concrete placing to ensure adequate vibration keeping each 50cm distance during the entire pouring stage with sufficient Quantity.

6.6

Protection & Curing Mechanical disturbance of concrete during the specified curing period and damaged to finished concrete shall be prevented. After completing placing and finishing operations, efforts must continue to protect the concrete from high temperature, direct sunlight, low humidity and drying winds. If possible, the work should be kept in a uniformly moderate temperature condition to allow the concrete to develop its full strength potential. The concrete should also be protected against thermal-shrinkage cracking from rapid temperature drops, particularly during the first 24hours. The combined protection material as below will be used for curing purposes. This will be done immediately once the concrete is reached its stiffening time by fully cover the whole concrete surface onto the whole to prevent concrete temperature loss too quick and result high temperature differential between the surface and at the middle.

TWO(2) X 500MW Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant Method statement for STG Foundation Concrete Works

Rev. C

Care must be taken during the entire curing (for two weeks) to ensure by reading its temperature by a thermocouple that the temperature at the middle of the concrete is low enough to result the difference of temperature in comparison

with the surface not exceed 20 C.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL Expecting Hydration Temperature The maximum temperature can be estimated by adiabatic temperature rise test. The adiabatic test conducted with actual concrete used for determining heat generation. The test was conducted at R & D Center of Hyundai E&C Corporation and all concrete components were delivered to the R & D Center from Mong Duong 1 Project Site in Vietnam to Korea. Concrete mix proportion based on approved trial mix is shown the following Table with expecting temperature.

10

TWO(2) X 500MW Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant Method statement for STG Foundation Concrete Works

Rev. C

Adiabatic temperature properties were determined by laboratory testing and other thermal properties used for this analysis were provided from 2009 Korea Concrete Standard Specification. To find out the relationship between various curing methods and hydration heat characteristics of concrete, basically curing method and curing period were chosen as analyzing variables. There are many methods for controlling the temperature and moisture content of freshly placed concrete, but only moist curing, water ponding and insulation curing were considered in the analysis. -Input Parameter of Numerical Analysis

Results of temperature analyses of the Turbine Foundation are further discussed below. The highest temperature occurred at the center of the foundation concrete even if the different curing method. On the surface, the highest temperature was reached within 3 days and it gradually reduced to the ambient temperature. The surface temperature is lower than the center temperature but also higher than the atmosphere temperature. The temperature difference between the surface and the center of the concrete comes out differently depends largely on curing method and curing period. When the whole curing ended, the surface temperature decreased rapidly then the temperature difference shows highest. So if the curing period is long enough to keep the surface temperature high then the temperature difference could keep low. The lowest temperature difference is almost at 20 when keeping 14 days of Moist-curing by ponding method. So the water ponding method could be the most suitable curing method for the field. In accordance with this recommendation, combined curing method like Clause 6.6 PROTECTION & CURING will be provided at Site. Up to 5~6 days from placing concrete, warm water would be used as curing water and from the date to 14days later , normal sweet water could be used. At the end of the curing period for 14days, the covering should be left in place without wetting for 2days so that the concrete surface will dry slowly and be less subject to surface shrinkage cracking.

7.2

Test and Monitoring of the Concrete Mass after Placing To ensure that the temperature differential will be controlled a set of measuring apparatus will be set as shown by the below sketch. The measurement purposes are to finding the temperature development within the concrete mass. The results will show peak temperature and the temperature differential for such measuring points. Sets of thermocouples will be installed and embedded to the concrete at the bottom, middle and top e.g. top and bottom sets will be approximately 50 cm of measuring from the edges. The heat generated will be converted to the circuit and sent to the data logger which will record and show information of

temperature measure. The maximum temperature of mass concrete will peak at 3.4days after placing of concrete and will be constant for 7 days and will decrease to the air temperature after 14 days.

7.3

Form Removal and Inspection Removal of forms is only carried out when concrete meets the required strength and avoid causing sudden stress or crack to affect to the concrete structure. After 16days from placing, the forms can be removed with shoring. After form removal, concrete surface shall be investigated and notify the Employer to

inspect. In addition, form tie holes can be filled and any necessary repairs made by uncovering a small portion of the concrete at a time to carry on this work with approved materials. These repairs should be completed in the first few days after stripping so the repairs and tie-hole fillings can cure with the surrounding concrete.

8.0

SAFETY CONTROL AT SITE One of the main aspects of this procedure is Safety and Health Control. This is to control occurrence of injuries as well as damage to equipment and properties during the entire execution period. In order to ensure a safe working environment during the entire execution period, the following safety measures will be implemented as follows:
