PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION:
I communicate with professional peers locally during the following:
Professional development at the diocese, state, and national levels, Faculty meetings monthly, Professional Learning Community meetings weekly, E-mail, Assigned committees at St. Patrick School I shared the following evaluation/portfolio tools with peers to help enhance student learning: I have shared how to use www.testmoz.com with my colleagues at a faculty meeting (see PD below). The screen picture below shows the summary of what Testmoz can do. Best of all, it is a free program.

I have shared Google Forms with my colleagues at a faculty meeting. I have given personal assistance to people who wanted more information about both of these programs or any other questions staff might have.

I shared the following multi-media tools with peers to help enhance student learning: I require my students to use a presentation tool during both the 7th grade and the 8th grade. Students can decide which program they prefer. I have shared this with faculty and assisted some who wanted help. I have shared how I use PowerPoint in my classroom for presenations. I have shared my use of Animoto with my colleagues at St. Patrick.

I shared the following school management tools with peers to help enhance student learning:

I have shared how I use my Weebly page for IUS classes. However, we are required to use the cumbersome pages provided by the school. I have assisted teachers with their webpages when they ask for assistance or comment they are having difficulty with something. The link to my webpage is http:// www.stpatrick-lou.org/index.php/special-area-classes/ 1330-sr-doris-schepers-v15-1330

I communicate with professional peers in other countries by:

Posting on Facebook, I have shared the Testmoz free online program that I found. I also posted short PDs on my Pinterest page. Google+ also has some really great places to find resources. I have joined two international groups and posted my PD for Testmoz on one of them and information about Animoto on another.

Below are the following ideas that I was able to get from professional peers in other countries: I was unable to get a response to my posts on the international websites. I did browse the posts that were already on the site. My peers in other countries use many of the same programs I use. There were many posts about Google Drive, Google Plus and other features of Google.
E-COMMUNICATION WITH

PARENTS:

I communicate with parents about technology that I use in class by: newsletter - sent electronically and posted on my website. I have just signed up for Remind 101 and will use that once I obtain parents cell phone numbers. I foresee myself using this a lot next school year. When we learned about this last year, I didnt realize it would give me a cell phone number to use the program. I didnt have a cell phone and couldnt use the program. I also have textfree app. on my school issued iPad. This also gives me a phone number for this program. I have used this on a limited basis since I downloaded it in December.

PD/IN-SERVICE (MY TECHNOLOGY UNIT):

The following details my PD plan. I: began by showing results of my Technology Unit. presented the information on Digital Citizenship. showed the video on Digital Law/Copyright. presented the different types of technology used. i. Google Forms pre-assessment ii. YouTube Videos one already on YouTube - showed how to search one created by me in Animoto - showed how to sign-up and create a video iii. Google Drive homework assignment graphic organizer iv. Testmoz - post-assessment Opened for questions & answers after each program and at the end.

I incorporated the following concepts in my PD: I incorporated the importance for teaching social, ethical, and legal issues and responsible use of technology at the school/classroom level. I explained the different themes of Digital Citizenship. Information was gathered from http:// digitalcitizenship.net/Nine_Elements.html i. We are part of a higher socioeconomic status school. Most of our students probably have more access to technology at home than they do here. (Digital Access) ii. We often purchase app for the iPads. (Digital Commerce) iii. We are constantly sending and receiving e-mail and other communications on our computers, iPads, and phones. (Digital Communication) iv. There is always something new we can learn to use. We need to help our students be prepared to join the

workforce. This requires many different types of technology. (Digital Literacy) v. I explained the importance of teaching the students proper etiquette when using technology. A lack of proper etiquette has caused some issues for some of our students in the past. We need to train the students so issues dont arise in the future. (Digital Etiquette) vi. I showed a video about copyright laws and the improper used of things found electronically. (Digital Law) vii. As with anything else along with rights come responsibilities. The students must show responsibility if they want the right to use the technology. (Digital Rights and Responsibilities) viii. We need to teach our students that there can be issues with eye safety, repetitive motions, and addiction when using technology. (Digital Health & Wellness) ix. We need to teach our students to protect their technology, whether that be software, hardware, or something they have produced. They should always log out of the computers so that they know their information is safe and will not be used by others. (Digital Security) Information about summarizing copyright laws related to use of images, music, video, and other digital resources in varying formats. i. I presented a brief Youtube video about copyright laws: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zT3YeNKyyw I incorporated the Adult Learning Theory in my PD by presenting the results first to peek their interest. Then, showing how I was able to get those results. i. I showed the statistics from the test. I explained to them I didnt have to do any setting up a spread sheet or adding or anything to get my statistics.

ii. I told them of the attentiveness of the students because they know if the had homework, it would use technology. iii. I shared with them the many different types of technology I used. iv. I shared with them that I only signed out the laptop cart once. This was a bonus because we only have two class sets of laptops and they are sometimes hard to reserve. v. I acknowledged that they too use technology. I chose to put many things into one unit and found innovative ways to do that. I provided handouts on the Digital Citizenship, examples of anything I produced. All these will be turned in electronically.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (BEYOND THE SCHOOL LEVEL): I have written a letter to Congressman Yarmuth regarding funding for computers and teacher training for technology in the classroom. (file submitted electronically) I have written a letter to the school board president at St. Patrick Catholic School asking for funding and support for teachers training in the ethical, social, and legal responsibility of technology in the classroom. (file submitted electronically)
