SAP, former software supplier for the large industrial companies of this world, discovered SMEs some time ago and developed three ERP solutions for such companies:

bought as expensive individual tools. Nevertheless, firsthand reports sound rather skeptical, and presumably it will take some more time until a bakery-specific solution has been developed. In its attempt to open the SMEs market, SAP is focusing on individual industries. For the Focus Bakery Products, SAP found RS AG as its partner. RS AG is not new to the baking industry; with its own ERP solution RS 5, it serves several European industrial and chain store bakeries. Within the scope of the partnership with SAP, RS AG developed the ERP system Business All-in-One by SAP into a product currently being implemented at two large German chain store bakeries. SAPs Business All-in-One for the food industry can be used in several areas in the bakery field ranging from purchasing to production planning and chain store management. The software package With the bakery solution of SAP Business All-in-One Food, the following processes are included in the standard implementation package: + Purchasing and incoming goods handling + Material management, recipes

Business One is a corporate software supporting management, production, purchasing, stock-keeping, service, financing and distribution. It is an industry-specific implementation for the baking industry, originating also from RS AG. Business One is aimed at companies employing between 10 and 100 people and having two users. Business All-in-One is a complete ERP system for SMEs geared at companies with a staff of 100 to 500 and 10-50 ERP users. In the past, this system was only available for producers of components or small series, automotive suppliers as well as processors of metals and plastics. In the meantime, a version for the food industry has been developed; the bakery-specific version is produced by RS AG. Business by Design is the latest ERP product from Walldorf, Germany, the headquarters of SAP. Contrary to the other two solutions, this one is not for sale but can be used within the scope of a leasing agreement. The system whereby the customer virtually pre-configures himself online, is still in the test phase. The system is interesting because it offers access to many specific SAP solutions which can only be

Three months for standard implementation The SAP partner RS AG has many years of experience in the bakery industry. They offer to implement the SAP bakery solution at a flat rate within three months (standard implementation) increasing to six months (for optional additional processes). This includes the project management, implementation of the scope agreed on, technical installation of the system, on-the-job training for the main user, templates for data migration, forms and print-outs, SAP standard reports, go live and maintenance. Upon request, SAP will host the system and the live operation of the SAP system at a flat rate. For the user support, RS AG provides experienced personnel as well as the SAP and bakery industry expertise. The standard implementation of the SAP software in a bakery with 30 sales outlets, 8 professional users, 30 chain store licenses and MS SQL server 2007 will cost, as a package, 58,500.00 Euros excl. VAT to include implementation and 25 days of training. +++
