Navitas at WKU offers a University Pathways Program (UPP) and Pre-Masters Program (PMP), both designed to prepare you for university studies in the United States. From the day you enroll in either program you ARE a WKU student.

With Navitas at WKU, youre guaranteed the highest standards of teaching from fully qualified WKU faculty. Language and academic skills support: Being able to communicate effectively and confidently in English is essential to your success at university. We offer support classes to improve your skills in grammar, critical reading and academic writing, note-taking, listening effectively in lectures, and participating in tutorials and discussions. Flexibility: At WKU, we have three intakes each year: August, January and May. This means you can begin your studies at a time that best suits you. your chosen career field. As an internship or co-op student youll graduate with a strong academic foundation and a practical background that is highly regarded by potential employers.

Program details
This is a one-semester (four months) academic English language program. When you have successfully completed this program and have met the academic entry requirements, you can progress to one of the programs listed below. This program is for students who would benefit from some additional developmental coursework prior to commencing the standard program. This program combines UPP: Extended courses and English language studies. In the first semester you will take two academic courses plus 15 hours per week of Academic English. This program is equivalent to the first year of a WKU degree. To complete the UPP: Standard, you will need to complete 12 courses and achieve the specified grade-point average (GPA). This program is usually completed in three semesters (one year). This program combines UPP: Standard courses and English language studies. In the first semester, you will take two academic courses plus Academic English studies. The Advanced program is an accelerated two semester program offered to students who are exceptionally well-prepared for academic study. This is designed for students who have completed a bachelors degree, but need additional academic support in areas such as research methods and academic writing to gain entry to a WKU graduate program. In the PMP, you will take three academic courses over one semester.

Navitas at WKU provides many support services to help you reach your goals. As a student with us you will have access to all these services, as well as the campus facilities and amenities offered by WKU. These range from social activities to career-building workshops.

Orientation
We offer a comprehensive orientation program to all new Navitas at WKU students, to help you settle into your study program as quickly and comfortably as possible. Attendance at orientation is compulsory for all new students. The WKU campus has everything you would expect of a major university, but on a scale that makes you feel at home. From tailgating (barbecuing) before a football game or heading to Diddle Arena for a basketball game, WKU students love anything to do with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sports. On-campus sporting events are free for all students to attend. WKU is an all-American university that offers a multitude of activities on campus. Students enjoy free concerts, free admission to Division 1A sports and many other events on campus. University Pathway Program (UPP)


UPP Extended
The Extended program provides a bridge between secondary school and undergraduate studies. It consists of eight courses of study, designed to prepare you to enter a university-level program.
In addition to formal classes, you will receive extra support through individual consultation with instructors and access to our computer laboratories.

UPP Standard
The Standard program is equal to your first year of a WKU degree. You will be taught by WKU professors and will receive WKU credit.
The program is available to you if you are academically prepared to begin studying WKU curriculum, without the need for developmental courses. A Mixed English option is also available if you have completed the UPP: English program or need a combination of developmental reading and writing credit hours, but are otherwise ready to begin studying the WKU curriculum. When you successfully complete the Standard program, you will progress into the second year of your WKU degree. Intakes August, January, and May Duration Three semesters 2013 Program fee US$21,000

UPP Advanced
The Advanced program is equal to your first year of a WKU degree. You will be taught by WKU professors and will receive WKU credit. The Advanced program is an accelerated two semester program offered to students who are exceptionally well-prepared for academic study.

Pre-Masters Program (PMP)


The PMP is a one-semester program for international students looking to study a graduate degree in the United States. By joining Navitas at WKU you can start earning credit hours towards your masters degree from day one of your PMP studies.
You will learn from hand-picked WKU faculty, have access to student support services and will be guaranteed progression to a WKU masters degree after meeting agreed requirements. Navitas at WKU offers a pathway into all WKU masters programs. Certificate in Leadership Studies


This program will enable you to enhance your career opportunities through workshops, professional experience and leadership experience. This certificate becomes a permanent part of your academic transcript.

Master of Science Public Health


WKUs program offers two specialty areas: Public Health Education and Environmental Health (each worth 42 credit hours). The Public Health Education concentration will prepare you to design, conduct, and evaluate activities that aim to improve the health of all people in institutional and community settings. In the Environmental Health concentration you will learn how to assess a wide variety of toxic substances in our surroundings and protect the population from their harmful effects. Within the program, you will also have the opportunity to participate in graduate internships in health departments and communitybased health service agencies. This program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.

Master of Science Computer Science


This is a 33 credit-hour program with a thesis or non-thesis option. The curriculum is designed to help you develop advanced skills in specific computer science topics of your choice. After completing the program, you will be prepared to enter the professional world of computer science or continue on to a more advanced education.

Master of Science Engineering Technology Management


This program provides a broad-based core of management competencies in business functions and a solid understanding of engineering technologies. You will also be able to customize your depth of study in specific management technologies to help you reach your professional goals. After completing the program, you will be capable of managing organizational resources, leading technological change, and integrating high-level knowledge within a company.

On-campus accommodation
Even though you may be living on your own for the first time surrounded by a bustling community Navitas at WKU will do all it can to make the transition easy for you. From laundry facilities to meals to haircuts, we have it covered. Also, the people with whom you share a residence hall may become your lifelong friends.

Off-campus accommodation
If you prefer to live in private housing, the Registry or the Columns apartments, located adjacent to campus, are the place for you. They both offer fully furnished multi-bedroom apartments that are wired for unlimited high-speed internet, a full kitchen, private bathrooms and bedrooms, and a washer and dryer in each unit. Residents are given one year leases that start as low as US$409 per month which includes rent, internet service, and utilities. Meal Plans
Meal Plans are perfect for students living either on or off campus and provide the most economical way to eat on campus. Your Meal Plan will be loaded onto your student ID card and can be used in any of the 27 campus dining locations. Navitas family bursaries
Navitas offers financial support in the form of family bursaries. A bursary applies where two or more students from the same family study with a Navitas member institution.* The bursary is equivalent to 10 percent of the tuition fee of your program of study (certificate, diploma, University Transfer Program (UTP), University Pathways Program (UPP), bachelors degree, Pre-Masters Program (PMP), postgraduate qualifying program or masters degree). Navitas is committed to helping you achieve your career goals by offering scholarships to outstanding students. Each term, Navitas colleges* award two students with academic merit scholarships.

What does a scholarship include?


Fees for one academic term (or part thereof) at a Navitas member institution for: a diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree (Australia) UTP Stage II or associate degree(Canada)

Has your husband, wife, brother, sister, mother, father, son, daughter or stepchild previously studied at, or are they currently studying at, a Navitas member institution*? If yes, then you may qualify!

Scholarship policy
1. Two scholarships for one academic terms tuition are offered at each Navitas member institution.*

How do I apply?
Pick up an application from the Navitas institution where you have enrolled and submit together with supporting documents such as a birth certificate or family card. These documents will vary depending on the country where you plan to study.

one semester of undergraduate study at ACN, Curtin University Sydney, Curtin Singapore or Macquarie city campus; or

one semester of a masters program at Curtin University Sydney, Curtin Singapore or Macquarie city campus.

How will I receive my bursary?


If you qualify, then 10 percent of your tuition fee will be credited to your account each academic term. This amount will vary based on the number of units being undertaken. Note that the bursary applies to the first program of study and does not apply to additional units or repeat units that may also be undertaken.

How do I apply?
There is no need to apply all full time enrolled students are automatically eligible!

2. Where the Academic Assessment Committee must differentiate between equally qualified applicants, additional factors such as educational disadvantage, membership of a specific equity group and/or significantly adverse personal circumstances may be taken into account. 3. Students are eligible to qualify for the scholarships after successful completion of their first term and after commencing their second term. 4. Students can only be awarded the scholarship once.

The scholarship is based on academic performance the two students with the highest GPA in four or more subjects or courses will each receive a scholarship. If you are successful, you will be notified by mail once end of term results are released. The names of successful students will also be posted on the college website.

5. Students already in receipt of a scholarship may not be eligible for the Navitas scholarship.

How will I receive my scholarship?


Scholarships are applied to the tuition fee for the second term of enrollment only or the final semester of study in an undergraduate or postgraduate program.

6. Students are required to pay for any additional courses or subjects or courses undertaken that are over the amount covered by the scholarship. 7. Consent will be obtained prior to publishing student names on collegewebsites.
