MetaLUN is a method to expand LUNs that require additional capacity or performance. A metaLUN can e either concatenated or striped. e created y com ining two or more LUNs. A metaLUN consists of a ase LUN and one or more component LUNs. !etaLUNs can

Concatenated expansion simply adds additional capacity to the ase LUN. In this expansion" the component LUNs are not required to e of the same capacity as the ase LUN.

component LUNs. In striped expansion" all LUNs must e of the same capacity and $AI% le&el. Striped expansion pro&ides impro&ed performance due to the increased num er of dri&es eing striped.

'( )irst of all create a $AI% group and after creating the $AI% group add logical units to it . Now we can see that $AI% group is created and ha&ing the following LUNs in it.

*( After that add one of the LUN to the particular storage group as done in the a o&e picture y right clicking on that particular LUN. +( After that you are displayed with the following wi,ard to add the LUN in the storage group.

-( After this click on ./ and your LUN is added to the particular storage group. After this now we ha&e to configure !etaLUNs.

0( Click on the 1xpand ta on the left side of the na&isphere window" it will show you with the wi,ard which tells a out the &arious steps you ha&e to follow for !etaLUNs as follow2

3( After this click on Next and select the ser&er which has LUN to e expanded as follow2

4( Click on Next and you are shown with the Storage system wi,ard where you ha&e to select the Storage System in which your LUN is situated as follow2

5( After this click on next and select the LUN which you want to expand.

Now to check the !etaLUN expand the LUN folder and you see the expansion of LUN here as follows2

It contains two things i.e. Component 8 )older which on expansion contains the LUN which we want to expand and Component ' which on expansion contain the LUN which we ha&e added to the ase LUN.
