after a few months of casual searching, I finally stumbled across a post on Ciscos Community Support Forums that fixed

me right up. All credit goes to these guys for figuring out the solution, Im just reposting it here in case anyone wants to try it for themsel es. !. "ownload the latest ersion of the #ogitech $uic%Cam software from here& http&''www.logitech.com'en(us')*+',)*-./.01sp2Image. I chose the #ogitech $uic%Cam +333, as that is all a C45A camera is 6just different branding7. 8e sure in the drop(down box to select your operating system as .indows 5ista 9)(bit, as that is the highest 9)(bit :S supported. ,. After downloading the dri ers, copy them to a non-Windows 7 de ice. /his could be a .indows ;< system, .indows ;< mode, .indows ;< in a 5=, or .indows ;< running on a toaster in your %itchen that you ha e >5= and ?emote "es%top access to. /he important thing is that you ":@/ want to install it on .indows A or 5ista. .e arent actually installing it, just getting the dri ers. *. Start the installation program. It should extract the dri ers then fail due to incorrect :S type. .e dont care. @a igate to your temporary folder 6Start (B ?un (B CtempC (B Clic% :>7 and find the folder that the installation program copied the files to. It should be something li%e D$uic%Cam1E5ersion @umberBF. Copy this whole folder bac% to the .indows A machine from your ;< system'5='toaster. ). @a igate through the folder structure in the DG"ri ersGx9)G<?:)9)H folder. Inside youll find a whole bunch of dri er files. Specifically, we want to edit the l<?:)9) .inf file. :pen it in @otepad or the replacement text editor of your choice. +. @ow, for the fun part. .e need to do a find(and(replace for the hardware I" in this text file. I had the most luc% searching for the string D3IC+H and replacing it with D3ICAH. "epending on the age of your C45A camera, you could also try searching for D3I8,H and replacing it with D3I89H. After the replacement option, sa e the file and exit. .hat you are doing in this step is forcing the dri er installation routine to identify your C45A camera as a #ogitech $uic%Cam +333. 8ecause, thats basically what it is. 9. <lug in your C45A camera. It will successfully install all but one dri er, lea ing you with an un%nown de ice in the "e ice =anager. Jo into the "e ice =anager, and update the dri er. .hen prompted to search for dri ers or specify a location, choose to specify. <oint the installer at the location you just edited, which should be in E#ocation of $uic%Cam FolderBGG"ri ersGx9)G<?:)9). After you point the dri er updater there, it should ta%e right off and start wor%ing. Koull probably get a popup about the system not being able to erify the dri er source. /his is because we changed the alues in the I@F file. Its a harmless warning in this case, so allow the dri er installation to proceed. After a few more seconds, you should ha e a brand span%ing new #ogitech $uic%Cam +333 installed on your system. /here you go. Lac%ing a C45A camera bac% into the $uic%Cam +333 it originally was in order to ma%e it wor% with 9)(bit dri ers for a different :S that you are installing it on. @o one e er said oice would be easy. 8ut hey, you can get a little more mileage out of that camera. At least while you wor% on your boss and con ince him you need a MMA!. :r a personal /elepresence unit. And if you figure out how to con ince your boss on that last item, gi e me a call. I e got someone you can go to wor% on for me.
