Stage 1 Desired Results


ISTE Standard 2. PLANNING AND DESIGNING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND EXPERIENCES Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by technology. SOCIAL, ETHICAL, LEGAL, AND HUMAN ISSUES Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK12 schools and apply that understanding in practice. Understandings
Students will understand that: They should use good character and responsible actions when using the internet. There is some information that should never be shared online. They should never meet anyone face to face that they met online. Related misconceptions: All websites are safe for people and computers. You can share information with anybody on the computer. You can meet people in person that you meet online.

Essential Questions
Overarching Questions: How can we keep ourselves safe when using the internet? What information can I share online? What do I do if something happens or I see something online that makes me uncomfortable? Topical Questions: Why is Internet privacy so important? How do I use the internet safely?

Knowledge and Skills

Stage 2 - Evidence
Activity 1 - Students will create a poster displaying the internet safety rules. Activity 2 Students will in groups create a video about internet safety when using instant messaging. Activity 3 Students will create a presentation about reporting inappropriate internet sites or inappropriate content on websites that they discover. Activity 4 Students will write a letter to someone that needs to know more about internet safety. Students will use what they have learned this week to share safety tips.

Stage 3 Learning Experiences


Day 1 Students will click on the Activity 1 tab. Students will then individually watch the attached video. Discuss with students the video and display the internet safety pledge linked in the instructor resources with the students. As a reflection, students will complete Activity 1 poster as an artifact. Day 2 Students will click on the Activity 2 tab. Students will then individually watch the attached video. Discuss with students the video and display the rap lyrics linked in the instructor resources with the students. As an artifact, students will complete Activity 2. Day 3 Students will click on the Activity 3 tab. Students will then individually watch the attached video. Discuss with students the video and display the rap lyrics linked in the instructor resources with the students. As an artifact, students will complete Activity 3. Day 4 Students will click on the Activity 4 tab. Students will then individually watch the attached video. Discuss with students the video and display the rap lyrics linked in the instructor resources with the students. As an artifact, students will complete Activity 4. Day 5 Assessment. Students will use the surveymonkey link to take a short quiz. Once completed, teachers will give each student a certificate of achievement.
