Lines Drawings
Drawing Lines are the foudation of giving shapes to objects.
The first topic of design that were created in Graphic Art class is 100 strokes drawing. Listed below, are the best three 100 strokes drawings out of five that were created. The drawings were created using the Adobe Software: Illustrator, Macintosh Computer, and a Drawing Tablets. The technique use for this drawings is using strokes of lines to created the outlines and shapes of the object. The three objects draw below are a tea cup, a ceramic tea pot, and a aluminum tea pot. It is important to first look at the shape of the object and divide a few lines that would fill up the shape and draw it using the tablet. The main object of the three drawings are for he viewers to look at the shapes of the objects and the line that make up the objects. When combine all the strokes together, viewers then can see the shape that identify the object that the drawer want to recreated.

Simple Tea
Drawing alway start with the simple design like creating skeleton of the body before able to fill in the rest of skins, and colors.
The second technique after learning the drawing of just lines is to incorporate values of colors to give the object a place in space, and 3D even if on a sheet of paper. The tools use are Adobe Illustrator, and Mac Computer. The values of black and white colors were paint on the pot in an x motion, and this cause the texture of the pot to be fuzzy or not smooth. However, this is image illustrates how the second technique look like when apply into the drawing.

The Gray Tea Cup

Even there not many colors use for the cup, it is stand out because of the simple background.
This is the second attempt of incorporating the values of black and white into the lines drawing. This drawing is better than the previous one because it has a smoother texture that shows the lightning of the object better. The tools use for the drawing is Adobe Illustration and Mac Computer. The focus of the drawing is the cup.

The Old Tea Mug

The surface texture of the mug make it look old and have a antique feeling to the mug.
The tall mug utilize the second technique of adding value of black and white into the main object. The x motion of adding the value gave the object a fuzzy texture but also an antique feeling. The tools use are Adobe Illustrator and Mac Computer. The background is simple with just a few perpendicular lines is to create a space that the cup is in.

The Grey Cell-Phone

The viewers suppose to look at the images and see the realistic shape of the phone than just a drawing on paper.
This week topic is to create line drawing and incorporate shading to add value into the drawing and make it more lifelike. Five painting pieces are created follow the technique of shading using white, gray, and black to shade in the line drawing that learn from the previous week. The tools used this week are Mac computer, drawing tablet, pen, Adobe Illustrator, objects, and light. The technique use to show value to the pieces is shading from dark to light. First, a middle shade of gray is selected and paint in the middle of the shape of the object. Then the lighter or darker shades of gray are added to either side of the middle gray to create the dark shadow or light on the object. The concept of these painting is to show value of a 2D object and turn it into more real life-like, almost like it 3D. The viewers suppose to look at the pieces and see it more realistic than just a drawing on paper. The light to dark shading, or contrast of high and low, give the object an existing out of the paper as it stand in the light. To control the viewers eyes to these pieces, I use different shade of gray and black to create the objects on a white background so the objects stand out. The outline and shapes of the objects are visible and viewers was able to recognize and identify the objects at first view.

Sharp Letters
The letter set have a sharp and pointed look before revision of adding curve.
This letter set if the first letter set make before revision. The letters utilize mostly sharp corners of lines without curve. The sharp corner gave the letter set a strong feeling. The letter set is design using Adobe Illustrator, and Mac Computer.

Letters Set
The function and creative visual of this font are created to make the text fun rather than just common font.
The first image is the first draft of the letter set and the second image is the final revision of the letter set. These letter set are created using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. Both letter sets have darker color on top of the white background to make them stand out. The viewers will recognize the objects in these two images are letters.

ProCreate is an app that allow everyone to create video of art that express their creative mind.
The tools use to create the piece of drawing above are I-pad and the app Procreate. One technique use in this piece is highlight and shadow to gave the object more dimension and a 3-D look. The viewers would recognize the shape of the object at first look as it is a silver box on top of counter shelf, and there are four bottles of different sizes, colors, and shapes on top of the silver box. Using different layers for each object and move the layer behind or in front of each other gave a more dimension to the piece. The viewers eyes are control to look at the pile of the object stack on top of each other because the background is pitch black, while there are lighter colors in the objects, and even some bright colors like the green and orange. The contrast color of the objects and background make the object stand out and it is the main focus of this piece of drawing.

The background of the logo is either a triangle or a rounded corner square to make the shape of the logo stand out. My name is Hien Nguyen, a biology junior at Saint Xavier University. My goal is to become a neurologist and hoping to score good on the MCAT in the summer.
