a. Explain the main components of conventional ignition system, as shown in Fig., and its theory of operation? b. What are the main defects of conventional ignition system? c. Identify the advantages of electronic ignition systems? d. How does an ignition coil produce a high voltage? e. Show the different between the hall generator and pulse generator? f. Mention the stages of the ignition systems development? g. Explain how the ignition system controls the ignition timing with engine speed and load. h. Discuss the operation principle of the Transistorized Type. Question Four: (10 marks) a. What are the different types of automotive brake systems? b. Describe the major component of the disc brake system? c. Explain with sketch two layout of the hydraulic brake systems used in cars? d. What are the properties of the brake fluid? e. Describe the main advantages of ABS and theory of operation? f. Describe the three main control phases of an ABS system. g. Explain with the aid of a neat sketch the operation of a wheel speed sensor. h. Describe the operating of modulator action, When a front wheel locks during the braking of a vehicle fitted with ABS.
