As the new school year gets underway, I would like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Mr. Barry White Jr, and I am from Queens, New York. I attend Claflin University as a senior majoring in Elementary Education at Claflin University , and this semester. I will be a student teacher in your sons/daughters classroom working with Ms Kennedy. This opportunity is the last step I will take before receiving my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Claflin University, and Im very excited to get started this school term. I have always had a passion for education, and furthermore, an even greater passion for wanting to teach education to those who are younger than I. Over the past couple years, I have had an opportunity to work in the elementary schools as a student observer, volunteer and I must say, my experiences have strengthened my determination to become a professional teacher. My role as a student teacher this year will be to first observe the cooperating teacher as she goes through the routines so that I can learn from her teaching style/ methods and to go about conducting a classroom on a professional level. From there, I will take control of the class and become the active teacher for 60 days, taking on all the duties and responsibilities of the regular teacher. This includes planning and executing lesson plans, monitoring students progress and behavior, assigning homework along with administering tests/quizzes. Throughout this entire process, your childs regular teacher will be in the classroom with me, guiding and helping me along the way to develop effective teaching skills for which I will use when I enter the classroom as a professional one day. Throughout this clinical experience, I hope to gain as much knowledge and skills as I can from my cooperating teacher, in efforts that it will help me become a strong and effective teacher. I also hope to have a positive and effective impact on your child, both academically and mentally, so that he/she will be successful throughout his/her journey throughout education. Im looking forward to getting to know you and your child in the upcoming weeks. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow together ahead.
