It doesnt change its root in simple past

1. When Verbs ends in E you need to add D

CLOSE = CLOSED LIKE = LIKED 2. When verb has a combination CONSONANT + Y at the end, you need to replace it with IED STUDY = STUDIED CARRY = CARRIED WORRY = WORRIED

3. Other regular verbs which dont fulfill rules 1 and 2, you need to add ED PLAY = PLAYED OPEN = OPENED STAY = STAYED
