The author recommends a process that includes twelve steps: (1) know what the professor expects, (2) be your own teacher, (3) work hard from the first day, (4) attend every class, (5) take good notes, (6) participate in class, (7) read the

textbook several times, (8) look for patterns, (9) do the homework, (10) study with a friend, (11) study long and hard for each exam, and (12) live healthfully. Covey, S. R., Merril, A. R., & Merill R. R. (1995). First things first: to live, to love, to learn, to leave a legacy. New York: Simon and Schuster. In the book, Covey describes a framework for prioritizing work that is aimed at long-term goals, at the expense of tasks that appear to be urgent, but are in fact less important. It offers a time management approach that, if established as a habit, is intended to help a person achieve effectiveness by prioritizing time to "First Things". The book asserts that there are three generations of time management: first-generation task lists, second-generation personal organizers with deadlines and third-generation values clarification as incorporated in the Franklin Planner. Includes a four quadrant matrix for importance and urgency. Schwartz, T. & McCarthy, C. (2007, October). Manage your energy, not your time. Harvard business review, 85(10), 63-72. The central thought is that performance, health and happiness are grounded in the skillful management of energy. The authors remind us that managing time efficiently is no guarantee that we will bring sufficient energy to whatever it is we are doing. They suggested a number of tips to manage your energy to be done daily. This article also includes an are you headed for an energy crisis? qui z for the reader.
