Welcome! (Salve!) Welcome to Latin! Some people may claim that Latin is a dead language. o!e"er# a$ter only a $e! !ee%s o$ study# you !ill &uic%ly $ind that Latin is actually &uite ali"e in today's !orld. ( strong $oundation in the study o$ the classics !ill help you in learning ne! languages# understanding history and literature# and getting ahead in $uture careers. )n addition to the a*o"e# students !ill also gain an appreciation $or the cultural impact and importance o$ the +omans and their language. Course Overview )n Latin ) !e !ill *e concentrating on $our main areas, 1. Grammar Basic Latin nouns# ad-ecti"es# and "er*s 2. Myt olo!y )ntroduction to +oman and .ree% gods and goddesses ". Culture an# $istory /"er"ie! o$ +oman history and the li"es o$ e"eryday +omans %. Latin an# Gree& in 'n!lis 0ractice recogni1ing Latin and .ree% !ord roots in our modern "oca*ulary )ntroduction to Latin and .ree% medical terms used today '()ectations Students are e2pected to arri"e on time and prepared. 0lease come to class !ith your note*oo%# !or%*oo%# and something to !rite !ith. )$ you are late to class# you should ha"e a pass unless it is an unusual circumstance. 3onsistent tardiness !ill result in disciplinary action.
