Old landfill clean-up update

Officer, Waitaki District Council
Progress continues to be made with
the Hampden Landfill consent process.
Following Council’s application to Otago
Regional Council for a consent to
place rock protection at the toe of this
landfill, a meeting took place on May
15 with the Department of Conservation
(DoC) and the Otago Regional Council
(ORC) to discuss DoC’s concerns
regarding the geological feature at this
site. Following this meeting, Council drew
up an amended application and sent it to
DoC and ORC for comment.
DoC raised two minor concerns over
protection of the cone-in-cone concretions
but following discussions between
Waitaki District Council and DoC a verbal

Wednesday Nights at the Films
Postponed
The planned screening of films over three screenings, have fallen through.
