Ordination into Christian Ministry
Saturday, June 7, 2008
2 p.m.
Pacific School of Religion
Chapel of the Great Commission
Berkeley, CA
Here’s an opportunity to celebrate with the Alexanders if you are not able to travel to
Berkeley. Of course, if you do come to Berkeley, you are more than welcome to
come share stories and photos with others. The church Kacey grew up in, First
Christian Church will be recognizing her ordination in the 10:15 a.m. worship service.
As always, visitors are more than welcome.
Transportation
Air: You can fly into Oakland or San Francisco airports. From Oakland International
Airport, it is about an hour trip on the AirBart bus (go to second curb from baggage claim
and pay driver $3 cash) and BART to downtown Berkeley. From San Francisco
International airport, it is about an hour or so BART trip to downtown Berkeley. Car
rentals are available at both locations. Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines have
good prices to Oakland most of the time.
Train: Amtrak runs between San Diego and Seattle once a day. The trip from Portland,
OR to Oakland, CA is about 17 hours. Train leaves Portland mid-afternoon and arrives
in Oakland late morning. On the return trip, train leaves Oakland around 9:30 p.m. and
arrives late afternoon the next day in Portland. Cost starts at $58 each way per person.
Carpooling: If people want to carpool from Oregon or other places, let Kacey know and
she’ll connect you with others who are interested also. Be sure to let Kacey know if you
can drive and how many passengers you can take with you or if you need a ride.
Accommodations
Here are some ideas for local accommodations in the Berkeley area. The Berkeley
Visitors & Convention Bureau has a great listing of all local hotels, motels, B&B, etc. on
their website at www.visitberkeley.com.
The Alexanders are also reserving several rooms at PSR and across the street at the
Church Divinity School of the Pacific. Cost ranges from $35/night for a single bed with
shared bath at PSR to $110/night for a king bed and private bath. If you’re interested in
securing one of these rooms, please let Capi Alexander know as soon as possible.
