2 Important information
2.1 Installation
2.1.1 Operation Instructions
Once the IF/NCPE tool is started, simply answer the questions in order to create the configuration file. Additional information can be found through the online help. At the end, the file can be saved either to the hard disk or directly into a floppy disk.

2.1.2 Starting the tool

Using a Windows or Linux system The recommended method to use the Installation Wizard is to execute it in a personal computer or laptop running Windows or Linux, with Suns Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed. The tool requires JRE version 1.4.2 or higher. It can be downloaded, free of charge, from Sun Microsystems. Download the NCPE package from SWS and extract it to any directory in a PC. Go to the bin directory and start the tool using the ifgui.cmd file.

4 Restrictions, Workarounds and Hints

4.1 Restrictions
None.

4.1.1 Dependencies
This version of NCPE does not support HW platform x3650T. This version of NCPE does not support HW platform x3250M2, x3250M3. This version of NCPE supports FRN5441.

4.2 Workarounds / Hints

In case of Windows 7 OS, Java needs to be added to the system PATH variable in order to be able to execute NCPE. The procedure is described below. 1) Click on the Start Windows button. 2) Right click on Computer and then click Properties on the pop-up menu. 3) Click on Advanced system settings. 4) Visit the Advanced tab and click on Environment Variables. 5) In the resulting window, click on the Path variable of the System variables and then click on Edit. 6) Add C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin to the Path variable, making sure that it is separated by a semicolon (;) from the previous path entry. It is assumed that Java has been installed under folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Java. If it has been installed in another folder, please use the correct folder. 7) Click OK three times and close the System properties window.

5.2.1 Internal Resolved Reported Problems / Symptoms

Description NCPE_7.1-16.0 : Changing any parameter in the Administration panel is causing a long delay. Cannot change node2 management IP in virtual geo separated case. NCPEV7.1-14.0 in Update mode; when saving a node.cfg with invalid data the 'Message' popup which contains the path info for the saved file is not displayed. NCPEv7.1-12.4, wizard mode; In a simplex OSV the admin_2_gateway IP not updated when the Admin subnet changes. NCPEv7.1-12.4, wizard mode; In a co-located OSV the RSA network config is not updated when the Admin subnet changes. NCPE does not report Invalid Data. V7.1-12 NCPE installation option;Do not allow the NCPE to change the OpenScape Enterprise Express setting (Wizard and Expert mode). Fix Coverity defects of Medium and Low Impact for NCPE. NCPE v7.1-12.2 Install option; OpenScape Office Express should not be the default when HW Platform=Virtual-OSV & Configuration=Integrated Simplex. Fix Coverity defects of high impact for NCPE. V7.0-24.0 toolkit not recognized in update mode. Param name change from "OpenScape Enterprise Xpress" to "OpenScape Enterprise Express". Inconsistent default IP values for cluster network in the geo-separated case. Default IP values for signalling network in the geo separated case belong to the same subnet. NCPE 7.1.13 fails to save correctly network configuration (Physical int simplex -> virtual - int simplex). Remove Ncpe GUI messages for add/delete/update routes in order to update/refresh quicker. Adding a valid manual static route for geo-separated system is shown as invalid. NCPE to rename UCSX to OSEE. OSC_V7R1 NCPE v7.1-12.0 in Update mode; Virtual Simplex OSV.
