Using the Physical Sciences Essential knowledge, Skills, and Processes (on page 3 of this packet) that was covered in your previous quiz or test, write an essay.

Criteria:

All work must be completed in full sentences and be fully legible (readable). 2) Topic sentence. In a complete sentence, include what topics your quiz/test covered. 3) Content For each Essential knowledge, Skills, and Processes, write a paragraph explaining the important information that you would need to know based on what we have covered in class. For your information, the Standards have been provided on page 4 of this packet.

Your writing should be specific and include enough examples and details that anyone picking up your paper will understand the topics you have learned in class.

In order to meet this standard, it is expected that students will:


Draw a model of a compression (longitudinal) wave. Be sure to explain and label the: wavelength, frequency, rarefaction, and compression. Draw a model of an electromagnetic (transverse) wave. Be sure to explain and label the: wavelength, amplitude, crest, trough, and rest position. Explain and provide diagrams for the wave interactions: reflection, refraction, diffraction, resonance, and interference. Describe how reflection and interference patterns are used in ultrasonic technology (e.g. sonar and medical diagnosis). Explain the parts of the wave speed formula. Explain how images are formed by concave and convex lenses as well as concave and convex mirrors. Include how the light waves are converged or diverged. Describe the seven parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Be sure to include radio waves, microwaves, infrared waves, visible light waves, ultraviolet waves, x-rays, and gamma rays.
