Studying how to emphasize movement and experimenting with the monotype method of printmaking Assignment Requirements: Design three monotype prints to emphasize movement using line, color, contrast, repetition, and texture. o A strong composition is the key to creating a sense of movement Using the silhouetted figures provided create monotype prints that emphasize the action of the figures. Use both the additive and subtractive methods of monotype printing on each of the prints. Once the monotype prints dry, use colored pencil, watercolor, and/or pen to enhance the monotype prints. Sign and title each monotype correctly. Remember each of your prints will be labeled 1/1. (See image to the left). Artist Statement: MLA format, 12 point font, 1 page max. 1. Explain how the elements and principles of art were used to create a composition that emphasized the movement of the figures. 2. What are the strengths and weakness of the finished prints? What would you do differently if you could start over? 3. Explain your creation process. What tools did you use? Did you enjoy the process of monotype printing?
