For an average grading of tine aggregate (that is. Zone II of Table 4 of IS 383) . the proportions shall be 1: 1 I/,, I:2 and 1:2/, for maximum size of aggregates 10 mm, 20 mm and 40 mm respectively The cement content of the mix specified in Table 9 for any nominal mix shall be proportionately increased if the quantity of water in a mix has to be increase&o overcome the difficulties of placement and compaction, so that the water-cement ratio as specified is not exceeded.
