Safety
IMPORTANT. The procedures used to replace a tire can be hazardous if the user fails to follow all safety precautions. This section will teach the user how to identify many potential dangers and also how to avoid them. Your safety is the most important factor when replacing tires.

Hazards and Precautions

The jack lift is NOT a solid object to raise the car. Never go under the car while it is raised on the jack lift. Every tool should be used for its intended purpose to avoid injury. Each tool should be stored away while not in use. The car must be on a level surface before lifting. The area must be secure and safe before doing anything. Dont try to remove a tire in the middle of a freeway. The car is very heavy. Avoid lifting the car with strength alone to prevent back injury. Once the tire is removed, prevent it from rolling away.

Locating and Lowering the Spare Tire

1. Find the back of the car. 2. Open the trunk. 3. Find the spare tire underneath the trunk of the exterior of the car. It is suspended from a cable that is connected through the center hole of the wheel by a larger rectangular metal plate. 4. Locate the hole that is used to lower the cable (found directly above the bumper and 4 inches from the right of the center of the car). 5. Insert the extension shaft in the hole from step 4 until it is locked into place. 6. Rotate the extension shaft clockwise using both hands to lower the cable suspending the tire. 7. Repeat step 6 until the spare tire is on the ground.

The Deflated Tire 8. Continue to rotate the extension shaft clockwise to create slack in the suspension cable. 9. Once there is enough slack on the cable, situate the rectangular plate to where it fits through the center hole of the wheel (refer to Figure 7 and Figure 8). 10. Pull the plate out to Figure 6: The Spare Tire being lowered from its location. disconnect the cable and wheel. 11. Take the spare tire out from under the car. 12. Keep the spare tire on its side face up to prevent it from rolling away.

Removing the Deflated Tire

1. Locate the wheel with the deflated tire. 2. If it is a front wheel, place the jack lift directly underneath the designated position displayed on the jack lift. 3. If it is a rear wheel, place the jack lift directly underneath the rear axle on the side of the flat tire. 4. Loosen the 6 bolts on the wheel using the tire iron, but do not completely remove them (each bolt should be loose enough to loosen and remove by hand). 5. Lift the car enough to where the wheel is off of the ground by using the jack lift. 6. Loosen and remove each bolt by hand. 7. Safely store the bolts where they wont get lost. They will be used to install the spare tire. 8. Slightly lift the wheel off of the screws. 9. Pull the wheel out to remove it off of the screws. 10. Once the wheel is taken from the car, place it in a safe location face up to prevent it from rolling away. 11. Keep the car lifted on the jack lift to install the spare tire.

Chapter 3: The Spare Tire

The Spare Tire

The Spare Tire

In this section the user will learn the steps to install the temporary spare tire to the car. The user will also learn about the potential hazards of installing the spare tire and how to avoid these dangers.

Safety
IMPORTANT. (Refer to page 10 for safety introduction).

Hazards and Precautions

The jack lift is NOT a solid object to raise the car. Never go under the car while it is raised on the jack lift. Every tool should be used for its intended purpose to avoid injury. Each tool should be stored away safely while not in use. The area of installment should be safe and secure.

Installing the Spare Tire

1. The spare tire should already be detached from the car and ready to install. 2. Set the wheel up in standing position, with the face of the wheel facing away from the car. 3. Line up the 6 screws on the car with the 6 holes on the wheel. 4. Once the wheels holes are aligned with the screws, carefully insert the screws into the holes. 5. If the holes fail to line up, continue to adjust the wheel until it fits. 6. If the holes still fail to line up, lift the car little by little using the jack lift. Refrain from lifting the car to maximum height. 7. Carefully maneuver the spare tire through the screws until it is pushed in all the way. 8. Locate the bolts that were taken off of the deflated tire. 9. Place a bolt on the top most screw. 10. Hand tighten the bolt until it resists to tighten anymore by hand. 11. Place a bolt on any remaining screw.

16 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. Repeat step 10 and step 11 until all the bolts are attached and tightened. Carefully lower the car using the jack lift. Continue lowering the jack lift until it is completely retracted. Tighten each bolt using the tire iron wrench. Repeat step 15 to ensure the bolts are as tight as possible.

How to Chang

Clean up
1. Lay the deflated tire down in the car (the trunk is recommended). 2. Gather all of the tools if they are not altogether. 3. Open the storage compartment for the tools (refer to page 4 Accessing the Tools). 4. Place the jack lift top-down into the hole on the left. 5. Place the tire iron wrench and the jack lift wrench into the black bag that they came in. 6. Lay the black bag down alongside the jack lift. 7. Place the extension shaft on top of the other tools. It will have to slide under the left back seat to fit because it is the longest tool. 8. Push the extension shaft into the white clip under the seat closest to the door. 9. Close the storage compartment by pulling down the seat.

Conclusion
After following the steps and reading the information, the user learned how to remove a deflated tire, replace it with the spare tire, the equipment needed and all the potential dangers and how to avoid them. The spare tire is only a temporary replacement used in the case of an emergency. It is dangerous to drive extensively on the spare tire and the user should get a new tire as soon as possible. Common Problems and Answers

I cant find all of my equipment. If you havent used your tool kit before, everything should be underneath the back seat. If something is not found, search in the openings underneath the seat. Tools may sometimes slide into these openings. The spare wheel was made to line up with the screws. Keep adjusting the height of the jack lift and rotating the tire. The car can be lifted from several places. In the front, find the small notch the head of the jack lift will fit into. In the rear, place the jack lift on either side of the car on the rear axle. Refer to the jack lifts diagrams. After a long time, the bolts may be rusted on to the screws, making it difficult to remove them. Use the tire iron and keep applying force. If possible, get assistance from a passenger. The jack lift is in the wrong location if it is not elevating the car. Test the lift by raising and lowering the lift without the car.

The holes in my spare wheel wont line up with the screws.

Where do I lift my car from?

I cant loosen the bolts off of the deflated wheel.

The jack lift wont lift the car.

20 The car rolls backwards a foot when Im trying to lift it with the jack lift. The car is being lifted too high if it begins to role on its own. Be careful when elevating the car. Applying the emergency brake can also minimize the rolling distance. The jack lift must be placed on the rear axle, either directly under the suspension coil on the side being lifted or on the rear differential, located directly in the middle of the rear axle.

How to Chang

I cant find the exact point to lift my car from the rear with the jack lift.
