Parenting Author Creates ParentallySanctioned Mischief this St. Patrick's Day


T oronto, ON - Were all a little Irish on March 17 th. Indeed, this year nearly seventy global landmarks will be going green on the big day, including the Taj Majal, Leaning Tower of Pisa, and London Eye! But this St. Patricks Day, author and publisher Tina OConnor is helping parents to bring the aura of leprechaun mischief into their house. Going beyond the decorative crafts that many children bring home from school in the run-up to St. Patricks Day, OConnor has a great plan of attack designed to bring about a bit of that Irish magic. The author of Be That Mom loves the idea that everyone, regardless of their cultural background, gets into the act every year: Virtually every culture has their own version of a trickster, but my favourite is definitely the leprechaun. So I love the idea of creating the illusion of a leprechaun running amok in the house for the week leading up to the great wearin of the green. Shes amassed a slew of tips to make that illusion a realityat least until the 17 th. Serve up a meal with mysterious miniature green footprints on the plate. An action figure shoe dipped in green food colour mixed with icing works perfectly. Use washable ink to create the illusion elsewhere A toque suddenly winding up in the fridge, stuffed animals suddenly dressed up and ready to go out, opened booksthere are all sorts of harmless, mischievous pranks that create the illusion of an imp wreaking havoc in your house. Create leprechaun traps with your kidsthere are dozens of examples available online. Then overnight attach a shred of green velvet poking from out of it to give the illusion of an ill-fated escape attempt. Then consider making a little pint-sized snack with your kids as bait.
