Research paper: It is said that there is CO2 is slowly entering the atmosphere. What does that mean?

CO2 (carbon dioxide) is a chemical compo nd. !he compo nd it made o" two oxygen atom which are attached to one carbon atom. CO2 is released "rom many di""erent things. One o" those things are people. When we breath #we breathe in oxygen and breathe o t CO2. $nother thing is limestone. When limestone is heated# it ma%es chemicals that are in lime# CO2 is then released. When the CO2 is released #it enters into o r atmosphere. !he atmosphere is the thing that sa&es s "rom being b rned e&ery day' It is a mixt re o" abo t ()* nitrogen# 2+* oxygen# and +* water &apor.!he atmosphere,s mass is abo t -.+/+)%g. !he atmosphere has a "riend called the atmospheric con&ection. !he atmospheric con&ection is the reason the earth is habitable. It creates the atmosphere to expand and it creates c m l s clo ds. It can also res lt in th nderstorms.Concl ding with that

in"ormation# the s nlight easily comes thro gh the atmospheric layers. !he earth then transmits an in"rared radiation bac%. In that radiation is all that CO2 "rom all the people and dead things. !he ocean absorbs approximately one third o" the CO2. 0o yo really want the CO2 "rom the In"rared p all o" the radiation to go in the ocean too' !hat is called ocean acidi"ication.!he ocean now a day# is ta%ing years ago# that is bad' In this pro2ect yo will be showed how ocean acidi"ication wor%s. 3o will also see the e""ects it has on m ssel shells. !his will explain how Oceanic $cidi"ication a""ects the ways sea creat res li&e and how they wo ld react to it. atmospheric CO2' !he ocean is more acidic than 1-/#///

Abstract I am trying to pro&e that d mping n cl r waste in the ocean is a bad idea beca se it will ma%e the ocean &ery

acidic. !his is bad beca se it is saying that all the animals in the ocean will die4decompose 5 ic%er than they normally wo ld. !his is beca se the water wo ld be able to clear the pores in m l s% shells and will res lt in them becoming lighter in weight and a m ch lighter density. 6y pro2ect is to show what wo ld happen to moll s%s when p t in water with di""erent ph le&els to demonstrate the e""ects o" acidity. I too% six o nces o" m ssel shells and meas res o t 1 bages each containing + o nce. I cr shed the shells into small 5 arter si7ed pieces. 8ach bag o" bro%en shells was placed in a separate 1 o7 container. I then "illed each one to the top with seawater. I labeled three o" the containers with a stic%er that said the ph o" the seawater# the date and the weight o" the shells. !hen I p t the lids on them and stored them in a place where they wo ld remain ndist rbed. !he remaining three each got three drops o" &inegar added to them to ad2 st the ph to a more acidic nat re. I identi"ied the ph o" these containers and labeled them appropriately be"ore storing them "or a wee%. $"ter a wee% I collected the 2ars and re9meas red the weight o" each gro ping o" shells once I rinsed and dried them. I recorded these meas rements and graphed the res lts. With the data I collected# I can concl de that the more acidic the water the "aster the decomposition o" the m ssel shells by -.:;*. 6y hypothesis was partially correct beca se it stated that the weight o" the bro%en m ssel shells wo ld decrease in acidi"ied water. < t I also ass med that the weight o" the bro%en m ssel shells in the

seawater wo ld not change. !hat was not the case. !hey both changed a signi"icant amo nt each losing more than hal" their weight o&er all.

Recommendation I recommend that n clear "acilities sho ld not be p t near the ocean or bad things wo ld res lt.
