It's o!cial - Aliens come in peace

August 5, 2012

A recent crop circle that was rst reported at the end of July has apparently been decoded into English using 8-bit ASCII. The message reads like something expected out of a Sci- movie and simply says "PEACE." The crop circle creators were even smart

enough to use the correct codes for saying it in ALL CAPS. Now whether

or not it means the planet should live in peace or if they're saying they come in peace is unknown. It also can't be ruled out that this was possibly man-made either. Shortly after being

reported, this crop circle was destroyed by the farmer. So no further investigation can be done on-site. Numerous people now have independently conrmed the message through analysis of the crop circle. Many though still don't understand just how it works and if it applies to other crop circles. To see how this message came about, you should have a basic understanding of binary code. In laymen terms, binary numbers are computer language, it's simply a series of 1's and 0's which act as an on/o! switch. For example, if you type a capital P on your keyboard, your computer gets it as binary number "01010000" which it can

understand. A group of eight zeros and ones is 8-bit or 1 byte. So this crop circle has ve sets of eight circles that are stretched out on a spiral line. If you look at the circles as numbers instead, in particular 1's and 0's, you can create an 8-bit binary code. To do this, simply indicate dark circles as either 1 or 0 and the bright circle as its opposite. Starting on the outside and going inward, you can produce two di!erent binary strings. You can also do the same starting from the inside and working outwards. The end result is you come up four di!erent binary codes like so: "1010111110111010101111101011110010111010 = ????? "0101000001000101010000010100001101000101 = PEACE "0101110100111101011111010101110111110101 = ]=}]? "1010001011000010100000101010001000001010 = ????? To view a picture of the crop circle, visit this link: http://www.cropcirclecenter.com/ccdata/2012/07/31/UK20120731_A_F.jpg Once you have the binary strings, you can convert it to hexadecimal or decimal. You can then convert that to ASCII or simply convert the binary directly to ASCII. Regardless of how you convert it, you'll see that only one message of all four messages make any sense. One of the binary strings spells out the word "PEACE" in all caps. The creators were intelligent enough to know those specic ASCII codes, but was it the work of aliens? At the following site, you can try your own binary code conversions: http://www.roubaixinteractive.com/PlayGround/Binary_Conversion /Binary_To_Text.asp One should take heed though, as an observer noted, the message might say "0 PEACE" if you include the center circle which is not part of the binary string. Let's hope that it's not some galactic declaration of war if that's the case... Whether or not this crop circle was alien or man-made is anyones guess. Being

destroyed right after its discovery left no time for a more in-depth study of it. That said, it could go either way. If aliens wanted to communicate through crop circle images using binary code, that would be one way of doing it. Others though would argue, "Why not just use English?" As well, the aliens apparently are not aware of chat etiquette and using all caps.
