"America's Pest Problem: It's Time to Cull the Herd | TIME." Time. Time, n.d. Web. 26 Mar. 2014. This article talks about how wild animal populations are rising, and that they are becoming more of a pest than anything else. According to the article, there are more white-tail deer in America now than when Christopher Columbus sailed over, reaching numbers well over 30 million, and growing. These deer eat peoples crops, they cause thousands of car collisions by darting into traffic, and they also carry and spread tick-borne diseases. During the 19th and 20th century, when killing wild animals at-will was normal, it was causing deer and bears to become extinct. Now, they have conservation laws and limits on the amount of animals that can become harvested, therefor raising the animal population to a normal rate. With so many wild animals, food in the wild is becoming scarce, along with disease, causing more animals to die of starvation and sickness. The article states that hunting the animals help reduce overpopulation and maintain balance in the environment. 2. "WHY IS HUNTING GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?" WHY IS HUNTING GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT? N.p., n.d. Web. 25 Mar. 2014. In 2001, 82 million people participated in either hunting, fishing, or wildlife watching. Due to purchasing licenses, guns, ammunition, travel and lodging, the hunters and fishermen spent around $70 Billion for the economy, while the wildlife watcher only spent around $38 Billion. This article states that hunting is good for the environment because it ensures that wildlife populations of game species are sustainable from one generation to the next. This means that it prevents overpopulation from occurring. The taxes that are brought in from hunting activities go straight to wildlife groups that help enhance the wildlife habitats, managing and maintaining parks and wildlife refuges, and conducting surveys and research of wildlife. The number of people who hunt is declining now from 20 years ago. With a decline is hunters, the more overpopulation will occur in animals and the environment. This article is trying to persuade more people to take up hunting. 3. "Hunting and the Environment Hunting Animal Populations Game Laws Habitat Loss." By L. Woodrow Ross. N.p., n.d. Web. 31 Mar. 2014. This article states that hunting is a good thing for the environment because it allows animal populations to be controlled and kept in balance with the habitat. It claims that if the animal population is to grow without being kept balanced, that overpopulation will occur. The animals will reproduce until they exceed the ability of the habitat to provide enough food to feed or shelter the animals. This will not only cause starvation for the animals, but also damage the plant

community! With hunters only being able to take a certain amount of animals each year, it helps maintain the animal population and assures that the food supply can support the remaining animals in a healthy state. The animals that are taken from hunting are a good source of protein for the hunter and his family and others who eat its meat. This article helps let non-hunters aware that without hunting, animals could starve and die from overpopulation. Hunting helps keep the animal environment in check. 4. "Why Hunting Deer Is Good for the Environment." GenFringe.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 31 Mar. 2014. Humans are a crucial role in an ecosystem that is not sustainable. The overpopulation of deer leads to them grazing a lot of food that not only can damage its own population, but that of other animals. Only 8% of Americas population hunt, which is another reason the deer population increases each year. When we sailed over to America, we pushed a lot of predators of deer away, causing them to overpopulate as well. Many cities in America are pushing laws to keep deer population in check, such as Austin, Texas. With the deer population on the rise, the more risk of starvation and death from disease. Hunting will keep deer population at a maintained balance for a good healthy environment. 5. "Why Hunting Is Good For The Environment Made Man." Made Man. N.p., n.d. Web. 31 Mar. 2014. Tax money raised from hunting is good for the environment because it goes to maintaining and managing parks and for purchasing land for the animals to have a safe and clean environment to live. Overpopulation can lead to a slow, painful, and cruel death to animals. The meat from hunting these animals go to help feed families and humans. After the meat in consumed from hunting, the fur can be used to help keep us warm from the weather in our own environment. Disease that is carried from the animals can be stopped by killing these animals that carry the disease. If a licensed, responsible hunter can kill its limit, and use its meat and fur for good use, then the environment will benefit from it. Just like every article so far, overpopulation and starvation of animals in the main reason why hunting is good for the environment. 6. "Why hunting is positive for the environment" StudyMode.com. 04 2013. Hunting helps keep the environment clean and healthy. The money spent on hunting each year goes to help to environment. Hunting helps keep animal populations in check and to help maintain them from year to year. The hunters help maintain the population of the animals. The overpopulation would kill off these deer without hunting. Disease would spread and crops would be ate at such a quick rate causing starvation. Hunting helps keep the habitat clean and healthy for all the animals living within it. Without hunters or hunting in general, the amount of animals is one location would cause much chaos. There wouldnt be any food left for the animals and they would starve. The plants in that habitat would all be ate, causing that plant life to decay. Hunting helps to prevent this from happening.
