My Question My question is not about the existence of a God. My question is about understanding.

My question is not about Divine, it is about learning. We all seem to need miracles, that seems to be a way of proving the existence of God. For me it feels like it is a way of resigning from our attempts to learn, to question, to seek knowledge. Torch light - is it a miracle? Think that you have never seen a torch light before. Never knew it existed. Take yourself back, before such an invention was known. What if you saw a Torch light now. Will you not think that it is magic, that it is a miracle? Back to now, to the present. You see a torch light, you use it quite regularly. Is it anymore a miracle. You do not think so. You now know, at the least an approximate knowledge of how a torch light works. If you actually go deeper in your quest to understand all aspects of how a torch light works it might take you closer to Divinity. ( Did you know, that on smallest observable scale we cannot know for certain both the position and momentum of a particle - read Heisenbergs Uncertainty principle - therefore there could be multiple universes, or multiverse.) What is a miracle - that which is not understood, yet. By our current aggregated experience, reviewable knowledge, we cannot yet understand. Therefore, we need to accept our ignorance, we can try to understand more. Can you make a light bulb glow without a wire? If I did it will you think it is magic? Nikola Tesla did it in Colorado Springs as early as 1899. It was magic then. Do not mistake me, I am not suggesting that I am an atheist, or agnostic. Or therefore, the opposite - believe in religion, God etc. I am only talking about questioning, experiencing and learning. I am only questioning fundamentalism. Just because you question and find out why, it doesnt make the mysterious any less significant. A Torch light, is still a miracle, it is still beautiful. Richard P. Feynman talks about a conversation he had with an artist friend of his, about beauty of a flower,

I have a friend whos an artist and has sometimes taken a view which I dont agree with very well. Hell hold up a flower and say look how beautiful it is, and Ill agree. Then he says I as an artist can see how beautiful this is but you as a scientist take this all apart and it becomes a dull thing, and I think that hes kind of nutty. First of all, the beauty that he sees is available to other people and to me too, I believe I can appreciate the beauty of a flower. At the same time, I see much more about the flower than he sees. I could imagine the cells in there, the complicated actions inside,

which also have a beauty. I mean its not just beauty at this dimension, at one centimeter; theres also beauty at smaller dimensions, the inner structure, also the processes. The fact that the colors in the flower evolved in order to attract insects to pollinate it is interesting; it means that insects can see the color. It adds a question: does this aesthetic sense also exist in the lower forms? Why is it aesthetic? All kinds of interesting questions which the science knowledge only adds to the excitement, the mystery and the awe of a flower. It only adds. I dont understand how it subtracts. Simultaneously, both perspectives are beautiful. You somehow have a larger understanding of nature (See this Pleasure of finding things out). Somehow this brings you closer to nature, closer to being one with it. Now we have heard this being said in another way, Advaitha Vedantha. But somehow, we complicate our understanding by introducing jargon, and therefore introducing ambiguity and misunderstanding. Also, I am not saying science is the only way. There are different vehicles of understanding. Like Somerset Maugham says, In every shave lies a Philosophy. I will leave you with this video of a song called Three Views of A Secret, written by Jaco Pastorius the famous bass player. Here he is performing the song on a piano with Toots Thielman, a harmonica player. You tell me who plays who. Is Jaco playing the song or Toots playing the song or is Jaco playing Toots, or Toots is playing Jaco or is the song playing them. You can make your own conclusions. Here is the video. Now there is an upside and a downside to this. We can use this knowledge for different ends. Choice is very important. But, that is a different discussion. Also, what do I know. I could be completely wrong.
