Garrett Joseph LeDuff was born on June 29th, 1962 in Los Angeles, CA at Kaiser Hospital.

His mother Celestine Lumas and father Wallace Joseph LeDuff, both from New Orleans, LA. Garrett attended St. Brigids Catholic School, followed by Juniper Serra High School and St. Bernards High School in Marina Del Rey, CA. At the age of 11, Garrets mother was diagnosed with colon cancer and died that same year. His father and family members raised him, including several of his aunts and uncles. When Garrett was 15 years old, his father became ill and was confined to a wheel chair. At the age of 17, Garrett enlisted in the United States Air Force and became an aircraft maintenance technician, while stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. After serving honorably and achieving the rank of Sergeant E-4 NCO, Garrett took his military experience and went to cultivate an aviation manufacturing career and worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft as a sheet metal mechanic and became a proud member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) union. Boeing Aircraft Corporation recruited Garrett and moved him and his family to Seattle, Washington, where he rose rapidly within the Boeing Corporation. He was hired into the Boeing Company as a Grade 4 Assembly Mechanic in the factory and rose rapidly to a Grade 9 Aircraft Quality Assurance Inspector on the flight line at the delivery center for 737 and 757 aircrafts, all within just over a year. Garrett was offered a management position just before a layoff in 1998. Garrett elected to stay an hourly IAM member and was then laid off from the Boeing Company. Shortly after, Garrett received a call from a friend and was recruited because of his leadership skills and aviation knowledge and was hired on at American Airlines at Los Angeles International Airport. Garrett was offered a management job within 6 months of being hired into the company. He instead turned down a management position to maintain his union affiliation and was voted in as union representative for local 564, representing over 550 mechanics. Garrett continued to be an advocate for his fellow workers and fought on behalf of all mechanic workers at American Airlines when they laid off over 160 mechanics in violation of workers rights in the state of California. Garrett organized a class action law suit for the wages they failed to compensate their workers and additional compensatory damages. The lawsuit was successful and full reimbursement was awarded to the workers. In 2001 and in 2003, Garrett was injured at work. In 2005, he could no longer work as an Aircraft Aviation Technician and medically retired. Garrett moved to Las Vegas

in 2006 with his wife, Ana Mercedes and sons, Garrett and Derek. While living as a resident in Las Vegas, Garrett immediately saw the need for community activism and the need to work with Veterans to insure they receive needed services and find long-term employment. Currently, Garrett works closely with retired veterans and the disabled through different community organizations. Garrett volunteers his time addressing the needs of veterans as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Veterans Committee at the local Las Vegas NAACP branch. Garrett LeDuff has been married for 23 years to his wife, Ana Mercedes, who is also a proud Union member, currently with Culinary Union Local 226, and a naturalized U.S. citizen. Ana and Garrett have three children, two of which have been educated in the Clark County School District. Garrett is also a student pursuing his Bachelors Degree in Political Science at CSN. He is scheduled to graduate in the fall with his AA, and then transfer to UNLV to complete his B.A in Political Science. Garrett is a member, in good standing with the International Association of Machinists (IAM), United Automobile Workers (UAW), and Transport Workers Union (TWU). Garrett LeDuff is a 100% disabled service Veteran, and member of the Mother Mary of Joseph Roman Catholic Church and his parish, where he regularly attends services. Garrett LeDuff is currently running for Nevada State Senate, District 8 to fight for womens rights, to improve the quality of education in Nevada, and grow the local economy by creating jobs and establishing a livable wage.
